HI i've been asked to go for a medical assessment with a company called IMASS based in Plymouth.

Has any body had any dealings with them ? are they honest or are they like atos and not to be trusted ? please advise if possible

Yes I had to see them for a Medical and found that they were VERY Professional and that they were proper Medical based Professionals. My Medical was for a leg injury for which I receive industrial Injuries payments from Jersey CI where i worked at the time of the injury. The OT that I saw thought of long term consequenses that i hadn't even thought of and as a result I got a 10% increase & the award made for life!

These people are paid to say you are fit for work,,,,,,,take someone with you who will support you,, do not go in alone,,,and do not mention good days only the bad ones!!!!!!!!!!!!! be very careful what you say, get the person with you to take notes,,,recomend you talk to citizen advice before you go,,,,,,,,,,,

Ask them to do a phone meeting instead as i was so nervous when they requested that i go.

My gp said no tell them to do it over the phone or come to see you.

They agreed to phone meeting and it was better as i had support sitting next to me.

Make sure you have someone with you as they can say things which may upset you as they tried that with me.

I told the guy that he was not with me everyday and that he should read the letters that i had sent to their company.

It lasted for about half an hour then it was over with.

I won as they sent my employers a letter to say that it would be better to listen to my consultants as he was the expert.

I wish you well with this and hope it goes well but if you do have to go make sure you have support.

I had contact with IMASS for a while as I was unable to work because of my asthma. My contact was all over the phone and I thought it wouldn't work, but I have to say they were very good. I got back to work (for a while) largely due to the input from them where they made sure that my employers (NHS) took measures to make my environment better for my asthma and wrote into their report that my employers should accept a higher than average level of sickness etc. They also informed my employers about the disability discrimination act (now equality) and and spelt out very clearly exactly what I could and could not do.
