i have been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis&emphysema&pulmonary fibrosis

my specialist told me that what ive got is worse than any cancer of the lung.cant find any information on life span on all three conditions.i have had the diseas for about 5 years does anyone here have all these i would like here from them

Hi Teaky I too don't have PF but have the other two. No one can give you an expected life span. I have been on end of life palliative care for several months, on Oxygen 24/7 and have a wonderful community matron and a nurse from princess Alice hospice who ring and call in from time to time. Matron, call me Clare, is wonderful and could not be more supportive.none of the above with the best will in the world can tell you.

What they do say is take meds as prescribed, exercise as much as you're able and, very importantly, keep positive be happy keep your spirits up. You could go on for years.

That's my plan with the aid of those above and GP plus my wonderful wife, who is my carer, I'm gonna go on for years and years.

I have same as you ... Only fiund out few months ago my lung as been destroyed .... If it wasn't for chest infection that pushed me other the edge ... I would of been none the wiser as a tjought a was just out of shape b4 a get chest infection

Hi Teaky,

Have COPD and was diagnosed 10 years ago now, and probably had the condition for some five years before that too! If you find anyone who can give you a life expectancy then take with a pinch of salt

Your life will be as long as it will it will be ! And no one knows how long, so make the very most you can of each day, enjoy what you can and thank your lucky stars you have this one day!

Hi Teaky, Pollyp has hit the nail on the head, as the saying goes, how long is a piece of string, I have copd and had it for a few years, the main thing is to lead an active life with a healthy diet, it is down to us to manage our condition as well as we can, just know you will always get loads of support on this site because we all understand how it, take care and keep well. xxx
