Hello Bacardi and welcome to our community. Whatever fears or doubts you have about COPD can be expressed openly here and we will do our best to offer help and advice. If you are worried about anything the British Lung Foundation Helpline will be more than happy to discuss things with you. Their number is 03000 030 555 and they are open Monday to Friday, business hours I think

Hello Bacardi and Jan. this is a great site and whatever the odd person might say, COPD s not a death sentence and there is an awful lot you can do to help yourselves.
First and biggest, unless you already have, is stop smoking.
Ask anything, there is no such thing as a silly question.

please try and get to a SALT CAVE (standard medical practice in Eastern Europe)-I have met people in the Edinburgh branch with your condition who feel so helped by a course of hourly sessions
Hi caroll after my results of my X-ray the dr said she thought it was copd gave me a salbutamol inhaler and told me to make an appointment with the practice nurse for further tests I had never heard of copd she said it was thro smoking ,I had stopped 8years ago but she recond the damage was already done I left in shock having never heard of copd before it was the nurse that explained more about it she ruled out asthma but she didn't tell me my readings but put me on spiriva first thing in the morning plus to use the other inhaler 2puffs 4times a day I have learnt more on this site that I have written down a list of questions to ask at next appointment . By the way welcome to the site you can blog me anytime and I will try to help you .i am 68 and thought I was healthy lol ! I live in Scotland ,take care x
I ment to say my name is Jane I am a mother of two and one grand daughter x
Hi caroll have been out today to Glasgow to see my father in law since the weather was good I live in larbert which is central Scotland .the nurse said my copd was moderate although to be honest I felt better before I started my treatment when I read on the site that most people have seen a consultant at the hospital and been told exactly what stage ect I am goin to ask why I haven't been referred its probably down to funding .have you been referred to the hospital? We don't have that monitor that you are talking about I think it would be good for those of us with copd it would let us know whether we had an infection ,I haven't heard of are sealant either you are well ahead of me with your knowledge I will need to look into that too take care Jane x
That is shocking what a way to treat patients the NHs has went to pot and I don't see it improving any time soon maybe it's just as we'll I haven't been referred to the hospital if that's the way they treat there patients and things are going to get worse for the people in England with the way they have changed the funding for yous .its funny you saying you have a hitius hernia I have had one in the gullet for years which with omaprazole was kept under control until recently when it flared up again then I read on this site quite a lot of people were bothered with heartburn and when I read the side effects of the inhaler which can cause it just thought I would mention it in case that was what is making yours a problem again .i hope you don't have to wait to long to get your next round of treatment you would have thought they could have done it while you we're there instead of waiting for another appointment take care
how are u keeping not heard of u in time,go hope 2morrw for tubes up my nose with a camera on .then home then bal Thursday,to c why hitus playing up.but wont get results till I go bak thameside in july.god it does drag on,its 29week now,up and down an havin copd its not easy, ridiculous really, take care
Hi carol sorry to here your still having problems with hitius hernia you are as we'll getting the test done and see what's going on they may be able to prescribe something to keep you more comfortable . I have not been on the site for a while as I haven't been keeping great myself with sinus problems with really bad headaches so have not been using my iPad the same I have another appointment with the dr on Thursday so I will see if she thinks its the copd that's causing it as I have never been bothered before I was diagnosed , good to here from you and I hope you get some answers too after your tests take care xx
