Seretide is a combination inhaler, it contains both a preventer and a steroid.

You could be using it for many years or you could change over to something else, depending on how it affects you personally. If it's doing good then you'll no doubt stay with it. if, as you say in your other question, it's making you hoarse then you need to speak to your GP about this and they may change you on to something else.

I had big problems with combination inhalers. I had Seretide for a while and I've had separate preventer and steroid inhalers. I was working on the radio at the time and could not do with having a hoarse or sore throat when I was trying to speak on air every day. After trying different types we eventually found a steroid inhaler that worked fine for me, and I'm still on it. That's not to say it would suit everyone,

The patient information leaflet for Seratide 500 Accuhaler can be found at medicines.org.uk/EMC/medici... - go down to where it says View Patient Information Leaflet (0.98MB) and click there if you want to read or print it. If that link is broken, they sometimes do go wrong, use this sbortcut :- goo.gl/kxE9x

I took Seritide for many years with no problems until my consultant changed it last year (I believe due to cost) I have since been on 2 others but am now back with Seritide as I believe it suits me better - if you take a drink of water after using it you shouldn't get hoarse as it gets rid of the remaining powder residue...Good Luck x
