Get a Therapist do not sit down and admit defeat as it will not regain any walking ability with a negative attitude on the breathing that needs training from the same support team.

ask the doctor to refer you to rehab. maybe use a walker to lean on while you walk. I cant walk 100 yards anymore

I agree pulmonary rehab is what is needed if it is not a worsening of exercise ability that will happen naturally with unused muscle disappearing and making it harder to walk.

Others are much more qualified than I but would a non weight baring such as swimming or hydrotherapy help?

Everyone is spot on that you must not, under any circumstances give up, I have damaged my Achilles tendon but I am still doing VERY very slow walking because my lungs are too important.

pulmonary rehab will certainly help and they will be able to offer you suitable exercise so that your respiratory system will benefit

Definitely ask the Doctor for a referral for Pulmonary Rehab - they will help you to excercise safely and give you suitable excercises. Other benefits are you will meet other people and get lots of useful information. Good Luck TAD xx
