Thank you Libby

I will raise this at both my next Clinical Commisioning Group and Patient Participation Group meetings. It is with people like yourself sharing informatiom that you come across that voices can be made by various committees to show concern.

Thank you for sharing Libby. I would like to say I am shocked, but I can't, not with this present Government.

Good for Dr. Buckman - I hope many other GP's are of the same opinion and speak out like he has. Quite surprised even the Mail has used the word 'bribe' in their headline. Might even buy one - on second thoughts................

The mind boggles that there are actually Doctors out there who think this is a good idea. But then there does appear to be more these days who are in for the money rather than as a vocation sadly.

I read it and was absolutely horrified. On a similar note a friend of mine who has never smoked and has no lung condition went to an out of hours GP service with a chest infection and was refused treatment as she was obviously a 'smoker'. Her husband who was with her wa livid. They got hold of their GP who had to give her stronger antibiotics as treatment had been delayed. Her husband has written numerous letters of complaint.

It's disgusting, pathetic and very disturbing. I just can't imagine any of our practice doctors going along with it.

Thanks for all your comments. I, too, ended up in hospital five years ago with pneumonia. I'd been to work but not feeling well just after Christmas, and thought I was coming down with flu, even though I'd had my jab. By about 9pm I rapidly went downhill and my son took my to hospital, by which time I couldn't even walk. I was admitted and spent 2 weeks in hospital, mostly on intravenous steroids and antibiotics. Upshot was, life has never been the same for me, never got back to work. What would have happened if I'd not been in hospital, they couldn't have treated me as well at home and who knows if I'd have survived. Libby x

This is probably why its taken 2 yrs to get diagnosed with a heart condition. Dr's kept saying it was all in my head, sominization. Proving them all wrong now and may need a pacemaker fitted. I'm disgusted its taken me so long..
