Sorry Polly, I don't but if you find out how, please let me know! I feel like that all the time but I think with me the more time I have on my hands the less I do! Mind you, with my lungs, the getting up is not too bad, the "going" is more difficult! Libby x

I know exactly how you feel, I spend a lot of time feeling like a zombie, as though I am looking through life through a glass bowl, the world is carrying on but I am not a part of it, even speaking is a chore and an effort.I dont seem to have the energy to do anything. I started a PR course just before Christmas and am pinning all my hopes on it getting my life back, but when I come home I just fall asleep on settee. I wish I knew what the answer is as I hate the way I feel and trying to find the energy for the simplest of things is almost impossible most days. Ive always been so positive and always bounced back but this time my bounce has gone. I do hope Polly that although my response to your question hasnt given you the answer you want it might help you to know that others feel the same way that you do and really hope that someone will be able to provide an answer for all of us that are suffering this way, Best wishes, Lorraine x

Ah, panto season is here again - "It's behind you..." :D

I'm about to start a PR course, they said towards the end of this month, which will be twice a week for 14 weeks. The mere thought is bothering me already as it's not just the sessions, but the trip there and back to consider. I guess I'll be flopping on the settee as soon as I get in too, but it's the longer term effects I have to consider.

I have noticed that I'm leaving things more and more, where I intended to sort out a pile of paperwork and put it all away, it's sat there on the table, growing in size, for months now. I had said I would do some little jobs around the house, but have left them. I'm getting forgetful too, which isn't helping, as I'm not using my mind as much as I used to.

Just be thankful we don't all live in Westminster though - bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-l...

Hi Gordon, good luck with your pr course, try getting in touch with the course admin office or your gp and ask to arrange patient transport for you to take you back and fore to the course, this is financed by the course itself, at least it is here in Cardiff and will certainly put your mind at ease if you can get there and back with little hassle and let me know how you get on, luv Lorraine xx

I seem to remember being told that patient transport is only available for those who cannot use public transport at all, or are in receipt of the mobility component of DLA. I'm in appeal stage for that.

I've got an email address for the department who arrange transport, so will drop them a line to ask. No harm trying. Thanks for the tip. xx

I am not getting any benefits at all and as far as Im aware you are still able to have the patient transport. I would have had to get 2 buses to get to my pr and like you I also suffer from reynauds so would be unable to attend. I know in Cardiff you just speak to the pr admin office or your gp and it would be arranged for you. All the people on the course are able to have the transport, so unless its different in England there is no reason why you cant have it. Dont be fobbed off by them and really push for it, as Im sure you will be entitled to it. Good luck and let me know how you get on. I have also got a disabled bus pass that you can get with our condition you just apply for the form, take it to you gp, who will sign it and take it back and they issue you with it straight away. Do look into that as well.

I've emailed the transport co-ordinator and mentioned my COPD and Asthma, also that I am diagnosed with Reynauds, which is a concern in the cold winter months too.

I'll see what they say.

Gordon, even if you aren't claiming benefits, if you are on a low income you can claim for travel for medical appointments and pr may qualify. You probably already know this, but am mentioning it just in case. You need to complete an HC2, look at

nhsbsa.nhs.uk/HealthCosts/1...

This may be of use to others, if not to you. Good luck with the pr! Libby x

Hello Gordon, in this area there is something called Ring and Ride, don't know if it is nationwide, you just do as it says ring to book then they pick you up in a mini bus may be a round the houses journey and I think you have to pay a fare but it would be better than nothing (may be able to use your bus pass)

Hi Polly,Libby& Ioda, well I think if we are all honest, it happens at times.I did exactly the same thing Ioda, falling asleep on the couch when getting home from class.

I got to the stage, where I thought I have to get a grip on things, something has to change!! Although its probably our body telling us to take it easy.

Anyway, each night I would write down what I wanted to accomplish the next day,and by hook or by crook I would!!(most times!!) I usually found the mornings was the best time to do it,and made sure I had a snooze in the afternoon,(no longer than 2 hours) & it realy worked for me. Felt satisfied, I was reaching my gaols, and felt a lot more better about myself.

Its probably not the answer you are looking for,but just thought I would add my little cure for myself!!

Also make sure the tiredness is not from depression, as that can zap your energy, especially if you are normally an upbeat person.Maybe a blood test is in order, also.

Anyway I wish you all,all the best, and hope things look a bit brighter soon.

Love Wendells xxx

Sorry, you to Gordon, your answer must have popped up, whilst I was typing!!

I normally get a bit listless in winter. Try to remember if you were a bit like that before getting COPD.

I get it too Polly, it's not just you. If it lasts more than a day though, I try to set myself a task such as clearing out a cupboard, or even a drawer, just something that only takes an hour or less. Sometimes this gives me a kick start again.

Im just about to start a course of antidepressants that was prescribed before christmas and was told yesterday that I had to start taking, thought I could work through it without them! Obviously not! Just worried that they would make me more dozy than I am! Ive done a list of things I need to achieve daily and really do attempt to do them but sadly a lot of the time its a case of my mind making promises that my body cant keep! Its good to know though that we all seem to be having the same problems and all the useful information that you have all given will am sure help, so thankyou to you all. Gordon, on our PR course patient transport is provided for each session, so it is well worth you looking into that, it will alleviate some of the stress that you are feeling, so hopefully they will provide this for you and you will enjoy it. luv to all Lorraine xxxx

I don't think I am depressed I just don't seeem to be able to get going in a morning, I perk up a bit in the afternoon and then go really tired again, am usually in bed by 8.30/9 and don't get up till about 9 am.

Shame we all cant get a prescription for a month in the sun, somewhere exotic! Still think I would just lay on beach all day but so much nicer than laying on the settee! Nice to dream!

Would not want to come back into a winter after a month in the sun can it be on repeat prescription :-)

Oh to be sitting in a shady spot under an umbrella somewhere where it's late spring all the year round, with a long cool drink and a good book. Oh, and a handsome young man to fetch and carry! Suppose I'll just have to have another chocolate instead, they're nearly all gone now anyway!

Hi Polly I had to laugh I feel exactly like, just exhausted. My husband's answer to it (if we have any sun!!!!!) he puts my collar and lead on and takes me for a half hour walk whether I have the energy or not. His attitude is I would b e tired as I am getting older anyway.Must admit I do fell more healthily tired after. I also break chores into time bites (reading for 10 minutes every twenty minutes. Things get done even if frustratingly slowly. Will also have a nap if desperate KatieJJ

Hi Polly, I think yours has eloped with mine! Let's hope they're a happy couple who produce so many 'get ups' and 'goes' that all our unlocked friends can adopt a pair ; )

Maybe one of those special lamps would help during the winter - for people who have S.A.D. they're supposed to help. The Guardian are advertising them.
