Many thanks to all you lovely people for your responses, and kind words, and to you Woody so sorry about your Dad, I was sec of NACODS officials union and we tried to get all officials to retire at 60 was successful in many cases. Those that worked till 65 had about 2-3 yrs of retirement and then gone, but those that retired at 60 had about 9-10 yrs of retirement.

TO EVERYONE A HEALTHY ( as much as possible) NEW YEAR cos if we have our health we will be HAPPY. Our Love to you all

Thanks for that ,I still maintain my links with South Wales and people I meet soon notice I have a welsh accent ,although I left in 1965. I have an elder brother still in Maesycwmmer and a sister in Risca .

It was so terrible to see men retire after a life of hardship ,their health destroyed unable to enjoy the short time they had left, saw it in my village so often, what was worse was that THEY knew they were destroying the health of these men.

I am coming to Wales for the new year celebrations ,but North Wales this time I spent many years with RAF Mountain Rescue in Snowdonia ,and are staying with one of my friends from that era .

All the best butty boy
