Can someone please advise?

Advice sought. I was in hospital for 7 weeks, I am still off work and still taking Prednisolone. My work had renovations done in July, dust, debris etc, no protection given. I coughed, could hardly breath and ended up critically ill in August.Do I seek legal advice on this or see my Union?

The BLF helpline may well be able to advise you further on this, they are open normal working week days 10 am to 6pm, 03000 030 555..

You might want to check out Health and Safety at Work Act on-line and also your local council Health and Safety Inspector concerning this matter. In addition there may be guidelines written in your Contract of Employment.

If you had already damaged lungs prior to the exposure in July and hospitalization in August it may be difficult to tie the two together but do investigate further from every angle.

I'd speak to your union about this as they will have specialists who deal with such issues. I hope you feel better soon.
