It isn't very often I cough or want to cough anything up, occasionally i do have a day when I need to cough something up, I have a flutter pipe which I use most days and I do the 'Huff' thing but nothing happens. Question is do I take Mucodyne everyday whatever or only when I'm actually coughing gunge up.

Hi libbygood I was prescribed Mocodyne some months ago. Started off with 2 three times a day and just re ordered my prescription telling doctor that I felt it was too many however she still prescribed at a reduced amount per day. I still take 2 per day as am now convinced they help to keep my chest fairly clear and hear one lady on here takes one per day long term so all in all would imagine everyday at a reduced amount would do no harm. If the prescription is ever not renewed I would think twice about it but I do think it helps x

Hi libbygood, I take 2 twice a day every day, and drink plenty of water. Nothing worse than trying to cough up the sticky stuff.

Hi, I'm on two tablets twice a day, increased to three times a day if I'm really bad. The best advice is to speak to your GP or consultant if you have any worries about it. Take care, Richard

I have one three times a day. I cough up very little but I do feel it breaks it up so it's easier to get rid of. I take it whether I'm chesty or not just as a daily routine.

I'm on one three times a day when I'm good, if mucus gets too thick and sticky it's increased to double dosage. Everybody is different and for some it does not work, so I think you should discuss this with whoever prescribes it.

Take care

Karen

X

I "maintain" on one x three times a day which increases to 2 x three times a day when I have anything on my chest to bring up. But check with your doc.

Hello all, it sounds like you are describing tablets, I had this as a syrup and would love to have it ongoing and tablet form would be great. Am I misunderstanding?

Mine are tablet form. They are about Smartie size so easily swallowed.

Very interesting. I was prescribed Mucodyne when I complained of feelings of indigestion, and was told it was probably 'reflux'. Didn't bother taking them and haven't had the alleged reflux since, but now I wonder if they would help with coughing?

Is mucodyne available without prescription?
