i have appointment for ct chest high resolution scan what will this tell me
I know mine showed how much and where my emphysema was which the Xray doesn't show.
Mine showed where the branches of my lung had narrowed and by how much due to the scarring from my sarcoidosis and chest infections. It showed the damaged areas at the base of my lung where the bronchiectasis was. So essentially it provides a detailed picture of your lungs which will allow your consultant to make either a diagnosis or see what other tests you might need.

It would not tell much it needs a highly skilled doctor to interpret the results which will be passed onto the patients as a simpler explanation of the condition of the area scanned as an aid to diagnosis and prognosis.
My CT scan showed up my giant Bullae in my right lung, I went on to have an operation on my lung from which I am still recovering from.
it's a 4 dimension scan, so the specialist can tell exactly what is wrong and where in the lungs said illness is.
