What nice drinks are there?

Am going on the waggon today :-( :-( I think the wine is upsetting my sleep I seem to get a sugar rush about 2 a.m. and then awake for hours.

I am looking for a nice, tasty non sugary drink for me in the evenings any suggestions.

I was advised to try and avoid caffeine based drinks in the evening due to sleep disturbance so I have herbal tea. There are a lot of different flavours, just look in Holland and Barrat health shop and see what takes your fancy. Take care, Richard.

Hi Polly. You could always try a ginger and lemon drink. My dad swears by it (he has 3 lung conditions) as it also helps to thin mucus. You can make it yourself or buy it in. I've been 'ginger' shopping for my dad and found some good ones from Asda, Sainsubrys, Morrisons and also Holland and Barrett (this ginger drink is pretty powerful!). My quest to help dad takes me far and wide and I have also made him stem ginger in ginger syrup. The next thing is ginger chocolate making which I will try when I get my kit sorted. Poor dad is gingered to budgery but it still hasn't put him off.

Kind Regards,

Jane.

Hi Kenneth , I make a ginger cordial but it does contain sugar

Ginger cordial.

2 inches of peeled ginger

1 lemon

4 oz brown sugar

3/4 pint water

I peel the ginger and thinly slice it then put water/brown sugar/lemon peel in a saucepan bring to the boil and simmer for 30 mins. Next add juice of a lemon and strain.

This will keep in a bottle in the fridge for a week and is good for colds and nausea.

Dilute to taste.

The best bought one I have found is Rocks Organic it is a bit pricey though,

I like Bottle Green ginger and lemongrass cordial but I dilute mine with lemonade as I like it slightly fizzy(I suppose sodawater would do as good a job) they also do elderflower which has a delicate taste, it is a local firm to me but they sell in Sainsburys, Tescos and Waitrose. Funny how we all like ginger and it is good for us, my husband hates it.

Hi

Pukka do a herbal tea called Nightime. It has Valerian root, liquorice, lime flower, camomile and oat flower.

It really does help with sleeping - i personally love the taste!

not sure whereabouts you live but it could work out cheaper to get a group together, although I think their delivery charges are reasonable.
