Hello zaney have this happen more regularly than I would want - not all the time but quite distressing while it lasts. So not to worry anxiety often makes things seem worse. Hope the feeling passes and you'll let us know how you're coming along x

Your body isn't getting enough oxygen through being SOB, which will leave you light headed and can even cause a blackout if severe enough.

Stop what you are doing and sit down, breathe steadily, use your reliever inhaler if you have one. Don't try and do anything until you are sure the feeling has gone. If you get this often then it's time to talk to your GP about it.

If it gets bad then don't hesitate to call 999 and get immediate help. The last thing you need it to pass out and hurt yourself in a fall.

I may be painting this a bit blacker then I should, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Call the BLF Helpline and have a chat with a nurse there if you can, this may give you further help in sorting the issue out.

I saw my respiratory physio yesterday and he said that sometimes when we are sob we can hyperventilate and lose too much CO2, which causes the light headed feeling. In which case you should sit - preferably before you fall! - try to relax and breathe steadily.
