Hello, latest news on my situation with my autistic son.I have took my son out of his school because he said he would rather commit suicide than go back to that school because it is has too many bullies and it is too violeant. the school said he is not being bullied and that he will just have to settle into the school.the sen education are believing what the school says and not me or my son.my son wants to go to his friends school were their are less children.we are being put under preasure to send him back to were he is being bullied.i have emailed a complaint to the education about the school.the headmistress is new and has not been helpfull.i just feel that nobody is taking my son serously .the education have said that there are no special needs places in my area so he will have to go back to school.good job the school holidays are coming up at the end of the month.i worry about how long he will be off school.my son is 12 but acts much younger ,he is vunable to being bullied .he has a statemant of special needs which at the momant i think is just a useless piece of paper.the autism group near me said lod out for the school i want and the education will have to send him there in the end.rather than him not going to school. i hope this is true ,my son is bored at home but he is very clingy and loves being with me.

I think you have done the right thing in removing your son from that school. Many schools refuse to admit that they have got a bullying problem, if they did they would have to do something about it and many don't know how to tackle it. It is a difficult time for you both but be strong and stick to your guns. Your son has a right to feel safe in school. I hope it goes well for you. xx

my son has seen a pupil punch a wall.he is scared of violance.the headmistress is new and properly does not want her school to be acociated with bullying.

Sorry you are having a bad time at the moment, although I worked with sen children it was within a nursery or infant school, during that time we assessed children to get statements of sen in place, often they were not implemented until the child had moved onto junior school, and there needs change, buget wise is also an element,. Stick to your guns keep on to the education sen. Don't be bullied yourself, have you contacted the autistic society, autism.org.uk. Also there helpline 0808 8004104 between 10am-4pm. I'm sorry I cant help more but I will see if I can find out more,

Best wishes B.

i have emailed them also i will phone them on monday.thanks.

Just as there is the BLF to help/advise us I am sure there will be an organisation that helps parents of children with autism. May be worth Googling and trying to see if there is an organisation nearby who can help with this. Good luck.

My 9 yr old grandaughter was being bullied, she has been at the same school since reception, and only started getting bullied in year 1,just now and then by girls whom she'd always played with, then slowly it seemed to take a path of its own, she'd come home upset hating play times etc,My daughter informed the school, and they couldn't believe the girls who where involved, but they didn't do much about it,in the end my daughter placed her into another school, which was very hard for my granddaughter,as she doesn't do change very well, and it has been extremely hard for her,but as her younger brother was leaving his speech school to go into main stream,it was best for both of them,Please don't be bullied into allowing them to make the decisions for you,you know your son the best, hope you can find some peace for him xx

Hi mumsy, i too have an autisic son, he is now 22, but i had to go to appeal to get him into the school of my choice, i would get intouch with the school of your choice and see if there are any vaccancies, and get a solicitor involved, as i dont know what requirements are on your sons statement its difficult to comment, but if his education requirements are not being met they have a duty to find him another placement i held out for yr and half but end result was worth it, i also had a educationial assesment on his autisim done privately and was lucky that the lady who carried it out went to the hearing. At the end of the day the local authority want to save money and are not thinking about how this will affect your son in the long term, and thats the point you have to get across strongly. good luck hun xx

Good luck mumsy and hope things work out well for you and your lovely son. I cannot abide bullying of any kind and it should never be tolerated at school or in the workplace. You stick to your guns and get your lad into the right school for him and his needs then you will both be happy. xxx
