Morning, thought I would just say hello as new to community. I was diagnosed with COPD last year after a nasty dose of pneumonia. Have just started ambulatory oxygen and have to have blood gasses etc: in a couple of weeks to see if need the O2 long term, if that happens I presume it will be a bit of a different ball game, all a bit scarey now but have to come to terms with these new developments. I am very very lucky in that my GP surgery are brilliant and so is hospital and respiratory team. am wondering whether its worth applying for a blue badge.

I am finding the community and posts here helpful and a lot of imforation. and glad I joined.

Take care all.

Hello, I'm on oxygen all the time, soon got use to it and excepted it. I applied for a blue badge, failed first time but as soon as they knew I was carrying an oxygen bottle around the second time I applied got it straight away.

Welcome from me too. I'm not on oxygen either, so I can't really help with your question.

Hi and welcome x

Hello boodles4, I am a longer term oxygen user and I use it 24/7. It is surprising how quickly you get used to it and you should be pleasantly surprised at how much better you feel when you are properly oxygenated. Welcome to the site.

Applied for a badge 1st August and still waiting.

It makes me so evil when I see that local people in my area who can walk, run, work, lead and breath a normal life already have a BB and believe you me they do not need it.

One instance I can give- the wife was disabled so had BB she has been dead now for 5 years and the husband still has the BB and says he just changed it to his name on the death of his wife. The Government say they are clamping down on this sort of fraud will I for one don't believe it. Will let you know if or when I get mine.

carlo try not to think of these injustices and concentrate on your own entitlement, who knows if he (the husband) is just being a bit naughty in saying this and maybe qualifies for some other reason -hope yours comes soon. Am sure someone who knows a bit more about the procedure than I do will come on and tell you if this is a very long space of time to be waiting for your badge.

Hello and welcome. Heres hoping you have a good weekend.

Take care.
