Anyone else suffering from hayfever? The pollen count has been high in our area for the last week.

The season is going on for a long time this year and I now seem to suffer right through from May. Not only eyes and nose affected but chest seems tighter also making me more breathless than usual..We are having to choose to be overheated with closed windows or sneezing but slightly cooler!

I don't seem to have had a problem with hay fever Maggie but when its hot it affects my breathing anyway so I stay in till it cools down. Seems like sometimes you just cant win. :(

Hi Maggie44

I really empathise with you - this hayfever season has really gone on and on, apparently this year has been one of the worst for hayfever symtoms due to a wet/damp summer.

Hopefully with it starting to get cooler this should bring some relief. I have checked the internet for long range weather forecasts and we don't seem to be in for a late summer.

Best wishes

Jo

Yes Jo thanks I do this - gives me a clue as to whether windows are open or closed.

For me I would rather have the warmth with runny nose and sneezing (it doesn't seem to affect my chest) as soon as it starts to go cold I start worrying about getting infections.

I hate the winter and all that goes with it, dark nights, dark mornings, frost, snow and the winter blues. Will be getting my sad lamp out soon, I read somewhere that you should start using it in the autum.

I also get hay fever. When I was diagnosed with COPD, my GP suggested I take a daily anti histamine and I have all summer (I am still taking them),and they have helped a lot.

Hi Lynne

Yes I take a daily antihistamine also. Unfortunately because my respiratory problems are caused by an autoimmune disease, I have to take some strong medication to damp my immune system down. This leaves me rather open to infections and allergies. Can't win !!
