she does research in boi technology, she works on better ways to grow stem cells etc to help people like us, she is not a chest doctor if she was i wouldn't be asking this question, it is a valid question ,everyone seems to measure emphysema by fev but it cannot be the only measure, not everybody has obstruction

A better understanding of biology is a valid answer to your question we are patients not medical experts, having a daughter with a greater knowledge of these matters is a logical step when you need information. Have you tried asking her it may surprise with how much she knows about you.

Today I had my first lung function test, won't know results until 13 sept, but I wanted to know what to expect. Utube has a good demonstration of what to expect and it helped a lot. There was also an interpretation of lung function tests it is in four parts but the first part and fourth part gave explanation for fev and lung capacity it is a bit technical and I had to replay it several times but some of you may be interested in it. My tester today Pedro would not give me any figures I am just starting on this journey it may be my asthma has become chronic or copd I have just come out of hospital, I only went in for a severe kidney infection and came out with pneumonia..B
