If chlorine makes your breathing bad you will have to avoid it though it has had great results for me.

When first tried it made me stop 4 times in a length now I swim ten lengths non stop with a much better quality of general fitness. Not all the same so no knowing how it might work in your case.

Can't help with the question but welcome Val

I go to a private pool and it's not as heavily chlorinated as public pools but it is a little more expensive. What I will say is that you should just give it a go and see if it affects you. I love swimming, it's great exercise. I managed 16 lengths on my first go (I have to stop) but last week I swum a kilometre.

So give it a try and see how you get on.

The problem I had with swimming was the water temperature. When it was too cold I couldnt breathe.I dont know what the tempersture at a public pool should be

Hi , This came up recently at the pool I go to as it was cold ,and usually it is quite warm and one of the group found out that public pools are not supposed to fall below 27deg

Also if we worried about chemicals etc. that are in swimming pools, we would never go!
