Take it you walk as far as you can and not for the 6 minutes? Physio mentioned 6 minute walk test? Val x

hi Val, i was told that when i needed to stop i could do, it could be for six minutes, but if you cant do it for the full length of time you can tell them you need to sit down, you walk at different speeds, start off slow, then walk faster. They play a tape and you have to walk from one cone to another, then when there are more bleeps, it means that you have to get quicker and have less time to get from one cone to another. I got my course dates through this morning, my rehab starts on mon 30 july, not too far away now. San x

I am looking forward to it, though i am nervous too as i dont mix too well with new people and hate having to do things in front of people i dont know incase i make a fool of myself, but i keep thinking that it will help me and thats the main thing, maybe going there i will get the help i really need and not getting from my gp. Your all in the same boat so hopefully it will be ok, as for making a fool of yourself I bet everyone thinks the same! Mention to them the problems you are having ask for their advice you can't go wrong Val x

I will do, the group i am going to is only a small group as i mentioned the anxiety attacks while i was there, so they asked whether i wanted to be in a large or small group, i said small. The small group wont be taking place at the hospital, it will be elsewhere. San x

That will be better for you, I know it's awful when you can't breathe and panic it's just so hard to try and stop yourself, (infact at times you can't) hopefully they will show you how to control your breathing making it better for you Val x

i always remember the breathing exercises i was taught in my antenatal classes when i was pregnant with my girls and use those techniques. San x

Good idea many thanks Val

As well as a Breathe Easy group will also be a good idea to start looking at follow-on exercise options available for when you finish the course; the end of the course will come around fast and it will be good to know what options you have to continue the benefits of rehab.

Have fun!
