I would advise your wife to see a doctor ...sounds like it may be an infection..hope things improve for her...Take care.
Called out doc twice - different doctors each time and neither of them her own. The first one said no infection apparent and told her to take co-codamol for the fever. The second one said basically the same but gave her an antibiotic - just in case!! Now hoping to get an appointment with her own doc this week - not too hopeful as they operate a two week booking schedule.
I would advise going straight to hospital and bugger the doctors (pardon the pun) I had similar symptoms a few weeks back, went to hospital and it turned out to be pneumonia.. So, again I'll say, take a trip to local hospital..
If that was my wife,I would have called an Ambulance before now,and let the Hospital decide what's wrong.
Please don't wait for another 2 weeks to see GP,if she doesn't improve with the Antibiotics the Locum gave her, please call the Ambulance.
Better safe than sorry

Last time richard was admitted they gave us a number to ring on discharge ,if we had any problems getting appts at the gp to ring them and they would sort it. We didnt need to ring as had no problems, but I do think the idea is good.
Many thanks for all your responses. I have to accept her decision to wait rather than upsetting her and causing her stress which then makes her 'go off on one' big time.
I had the same - and put it off but was in the end rushed to hospital with pneumonia. Get it checked urgently. copd leaves us more vulnerable with infections and pneumonia. It is not too much of a worry if you treat it fast though. I am NOT impressed with them doctors as without a sputum test they cannot say it is not an infection.
