Incense sticks?

Incense sticks, I am lead to believe that they are no good for emphysema and that would be understandable but WHY? I know that may seem like a strange thing to say but I mean do they make people with emphysema cough and choke?

Thank you :) They do NOT make me cough and choke. I am must asking general questions about emphysema and it's looking more likely that I don't have it.

Surely the conclusion to whether you have emphysema or not will be through CT scan and diagnosis by a thoracic consultant? I wouldn't like to rely on effects of incense sticks on a condition such as this. Hopefully, you don't have emphysema. Take care, Richard.

Richard the specialist did not give me a firm decision after looking at a C.T scan and x ray, I had to have a bronchoscopy because something was seen on the C.T scan and from my understanding from the doctor who performed the bronchoscopy it is clear inside.

The "relationship" with the lung specialist that I was seen by is not exactly peachy so it is quite possible that he was just being a tw*t to scare me.

I am not just basing this on incense sticks Richard, I'm basing it on running up and down the stairs all day and through the night as well as weight training and various other activities that I do such as being able to walk with no breathing issues at all.

I hope I don't have it either and as I say it could just be that he is being a tw*t about it, it's not a simple black and white thing in my situation lol.

Hi, it does sound a bit strange to be told you have a debilitating condition when it seems plain from your activity level that you probably don't. Can you request a second opinion from another chest consultant? It does seem to be a very confusing situation that you are in, and needs to be resolved if only for peace of mind. I hope you can get a definitive answer from someone knowledgeable fairly quickly. Take care.

Thank you and I am hoping there is another lung specialist at the hospital that I will be able to get a second opinion from, I have had no lung function tests at all either which if he suspected something like this then SURELY some sort of lung function test would have been done already?

i remember being told something like this, i walked up and down stairs no problem did everything as you do and took no notice of what was said 4 years later i had emphysema full blown, to late now to make the changes i should have made, stop smoking wear dust masks etc and keep the exercise up every day watch what you eat and take care of your self when you get infections,

Worth a look:

Any smoke is harmful to lungs, full of toxins as it burns.

I don't tolerate that sort of thing any more or things with high perfume / fragrance.

Gee Gordon its ironic about the smoker and incense.
