oxygen users are you able to exercise at gyms or other places or do you have problems because of being oxygen users?

Barriers to exercise are people able to exercise at places that have not done a risk assessment for oxygen users.

I go to a gym at least once, sometimes twice, a week and the only thing I was asked for at the beginning was a letter from my GP stating that it was ok for me to exercise. This was presumably so that if I keeled over mid treadmill, they would be in the clear!

it is very good that that your GP did you a letter.

We have just found a private Golf Club and Leisure facilities place that are more than happy to have oxygen uses use their swimming pool. I think the staff even help to hold it while you swim and walk around with it for you but am going to double check that for my dad.

It is so great to hear that a Golf club does this for oxygen users .

When you double check let me know please.

I was told at my pulmonary rehab class that O2 users weren't allowed in at our local gym. Well that was like a red rag to a bull telling me I cant do something. \I rang the gym and spoke to the manager and was told that had been their rule but........that rule had been made years ago and they were willing for me to go and check out the gym to see if it was suitable for me and we could make a decision together.

O2 users not being allowed puts my blood pressure up.

It pays to complain to companies who will not accept oxygen in their premises...i recently approaced a local council disabled bus service about this. They said it was a safety issue but after i had a chat with the manager and explained that their should be no problem taking 02 onboard he aggreed to accept one cylinder.

Compaining seems to be a good way to change things.
