Thanks for the reply...not sure we use HOOF here in scotland...i usually write to my supplier and they arrange concentrator /cylinders etc.Just thought it might be easier hiring a small Poc for during the day also.

They vary in price I was looking to go to Australia for 3-4 weeks here's some of the quotes I got

Eclipse 3 The price would be £600 deposit refundable on return of the unit and £200 per week thereafter

Sequal Eclipse 2 and DeVilbiss iGo

The cost to hire these units is £200 for the first week and £150 for subsequent weeks. (part weekly hire will be charged at the full weekly rate). A full months hire will be charged the same rate as 3 weeks hire e.g. (£500.00)

Don't know if these quotes will help you? but may give you an idea Val

Thanks for the info....the one i did look at online was the Air Sep Freestyle so it might be a little less expensive than the above...possibly..thanks again.

I looked into hiring last year to fly to Cyprus and holiday for two weeks. The AP agent was worse than useless and cylinders over there very expensive.£66/cylinder assume 2lt (as AP Freedom 400) whole amount (a guesstimate) was to be paid for in advance, awkward to increase and no credit would be given for cylinders not used.

As already outlined it was expensive to hire a POC. Why not look on eBay or other sites with a view to buying a s/h one that would suit your prescription. I concur with an earlier poster that the HOOF route should satisfy but the intransigence (and stupidity) of the supplying companies (ours North West England is changing in July from AP to AL we will wait and see what joys this brings!)

If you book a hotel in lets say Llandudno for two weeks in August, giving them plenty of notice then it should be OK, we generally caravan and go as and when the weather is fine and follow the sun allbeit in the UK (LOL), my own POC and cylinders is our only route.

Hi Dorall,

I don't know the cost of hiring a POC, I guess it depends where you're taking it and how long you need it for but here are a few contacts who will hire them out.

TENS Medical - 0121 355 6555

Pure O2 - 08707 120202

Omega Oxygen - 01273 308176

Another suggestion is to buy a second hand one. We usually have a few for sale on the notice board page of our quarterly magazine Breathing Space which is available to BLF members. Membership to the BLF is £15 or £10 per year.

Give us a call on 03000 030 555 if you need any other advice.

Thanks for your replies..Davybaby...BiddyFairclough...looks like its quite expensive to hire a Poc so buying one secondhand may be a better option for me.
