I will say a thousand apologies now for not having replied to lots of great topics of conversation over the last 2/3weeks but my gorgeous father was becoming more and more frail as days passed by. I knew his time was limited and to reach 96 or 97(i forget) is too long a time on the planet. That's what Dad would say to me! Now he is united with his wife once again and not reduced to any humiliation regarding toilet troubles, mobility issues, brain fog and no ability to eat solid food as he could no longer swallow.
I've not spoken so openly about my loss to anybody(my son, obviously excluded)so this is a huge thing for me to do. I always find this Community the greatest group of member's, .....so iI may take a couple of weeks off whilst I come to terms with my loss.

My dear nutty friend,i am saddened at your loss though i do know that you have anticpated this for sometime,rest assured that he is now with his beloved wife,your mum and that you know in your heart he will be happy again to be with her and that they will both continue to watch over you and make you happy again too in the future.Sincere condolences and sympathy.

Oh dear SH I am so so sorry. You had spoken about him often and I had realised that I had quite a lot in common with him. He had reached a great age so this wouldn't have come as a great shock for you, but that doesn't help much with the pain. Big huggs from Don with the black cat. xxx

So sorry for your sad loss. It’s a long time to have a father and you must feel bereft, however, he is no longer suffering. ( I lost my dear dad in March ).
I sometimes smile when I read of the elderly living to a "ripe old age". Some of us endure great hardship, and "ripe" would hardly be appropriate. Your father gave you great love throughout his life, and you have returned that in equal measure. In my world that equates to a great treasure, for love itself never ends.I wish you peace in your mind and peace in your heart.♥️

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve been where you have with both my Mother and Father. We tend to think we can go on for ever until you lose a loved one. My Father was about three four weeks off ninety six. Luckily he never forgot any of us Children but he was very forgetful. We are very lucky to have had in our lives such wonderful people.

So sorry to hear of your close loss so near to Christmas. Your father is at peace now in the arms of your mum. understand what you are saying about humiliation, it is not nice at the end for you to suffer your relative suffering. My son in law died in similar circumstances a bit younger last Christmas it takes time to come to terms even when you know its for the best. Thank you Mr.D and Puss. Very kind words and so true. So true. The cremation is on the 22nd so I'm wondering if I'll be feeling less "lost" by then. I truely appreciate your message although I'd like to stay off air so to speak until Christmas. I'm not looking forward to it but I trust you will be busy with family and eat & drink copious amounts.
