Booster jab and Holiday insurance

Good Afternoon Everyone. Hope you're all keeping as well as possible. Just had my booster jab. Yesterday and no ill affects at all. And have booked my 2 months holiday to Spain to get away from the winter hopefully here. Holiday insurance has gone up again..quoted me over 500 for a single trip but eventually got it down with less cover for 350. But 2 years ago only paid 440 for a yearly policy for 2 people. So definitely getting more expensive

I thought it would. Risk of covid, risk of cancellation etc, plus I think you have added to your pre existing medical conditions since your last holiday.Mine went up quite a lot, can’t remember what it was prior though!

If you don’t mind, can you tell me which company you are going with (for insurance I mean)

Yes I went with All Clear in the end. But I should have shopped around more because on a comparison site I found Puffin insurance was cheaper. But never heard of them. I rang All Clear up for a price because if you had conditions that haven't been treated in the past 2 years they wasn't bothered about them. So it's best to ring up and explain verbally

Lovely. Thank you Bingo. I’ll make a note of that. Thank you

I was quoted £800 for a single trip for two.. Not bad as diagnosed with cancer as well as my usual complaints, expensive but peace of mind.

I had my booster yesterday also and felt lightly unwell and headache.. Better than COVID though.

I know its a lot of money. But I say I can't take it with me and I am going to enjoy it while I am well enough too

That's the spirit. so true..

Yes exactly Ern007. You work all your life and you're lucky if you survive to enjoy retirement at all and I bet the biggest majority have health problems. That either means they can't enjoy retirement or you pay an arm and a leg for insurance and you get clobbered again after 70 I believe. Hope you're keeping as well as possible. Brian

I hope you get away Brian and money is no good hoarded, I am not OK to go abroad yet, got to have another op. I hope in the spring/summer to go to Zante - Really is what Greece is about and the cost??? as you say you can't take it with you.. This if I make it will be my last trip. so I want a good one no matter the cost. Take care brian and enjoy what you can... Ernest....

Hello Brian, 👋😄

I am so pleased you feel okay after your booster but I am even more happy you are finally getting back to Spain and to the warm weather. It's been long in coming. You deserve the break. xx 🌞

in reply to Caspiana

That's lovely for Brian getting back to Spain!

Saturday will be the first time we have stayed away from home since just before everything shut down back in March 2020 when in the February then our last stay away from home was to Exeter.

How are you and chom?

Baby is well and still spoilt!

Caspiana profile image

Hello there. 😄

Chom is at the moment staring down my latest piece of craft work whom he seems to have taken a distinct disliking to. But he is doing well thank you so much for asking Hidden . How are you? It must be getting quite nippy now? xx ❄️☃️

I'm fine thanks and looking forward to going away tomorrow but we are keeping expectations low though.

Do take care and stay safe. xx ♥️

in reply to Caspiana

Thanks. I have packed loads of masks and sanitises so I am well prepared.

I admit freely that I was disappointed and angry when my usual holidays got cancelled in 2020 but I have come to terms with that now and thankfully they can easily be rearranged for another day but at the time it can feel like the world has ended when these blows strike!

I bet I will really really enjoy the weekend away all because I have had to have waited for it!

I wonder what Chom's got against that unfortunate dolly?

Caspiana profile image
Caspiana in reply to Alberta56

Oh it's a snowman I made for Christmas for the front door. He's not finished yet so he sits in my room. Chom doesn't like it , I think he believes it to be some kind of imposter. xx 😂

Thank you my lovely friend. Yes it has and I would have already been there for my 90 days allowance. But I have had to find somewhere to live. And that has been hard work. So I am just going for 2 months and then hopefully I can get to go and see my brother for the 1st time in Gran Canaria. Where he lives and works. Hope you are keeping safe and well also Cas. And Chom is doing well. Take care. Brian

Great stuff Brian. 2 months in Spain. My holiday insurance is through my bank and I have to pay an excess of around £230 for the year. My husband will be 70 next year so it will hike up again. Enjoy your stay and the company of friends and your brother. X

Good to hear your booster jab gave you no problems Brian. I had mine yesterday as well, just have a sore arm and a bit of a headache. Its also really good news to hear you are off to sunny Spain, I am sure you will feel alot better over there. I enquired at the post office for insurance and theirs was alot cheaper. Have a great holiday and enjoy yourself x

Bingo88 profile image
Bingo88 in reply to Izb1

Thanks lzb1. Yes I always enjoy Spain over Xmas time. Usually do 6 weeks. But doing just a few days short of 60 this time. Been busy trying to find somewhere to live. Else I would have done 90 days. Got things to sort out in February. I have looked on a few sites and the post office was about the same for me as I paid. Only Puffin insurance was cheaper. But as always I found it after I had taken out the policy with All Clear. Hope you feel better soon from your booster and get a holiday as well soon. Brian

I am stuck with the Costa Blanca. Its just memories for me now there of me going there with my parents over 35 years ago. And although it's changed. I still enjoy the variety of things to do and places nearby to visit. I am staying in 2 areas this time. I am meeting up with friends from a Facebook group down in La Zenia area. For 21 days over Xmas and New year and then coming up to Benidorm on the 7th for a month. So really looking forward to just relaxing

Hope you have a wonderful time overseas and thank you for the insurance information.Glad you had your jab with no problems.

After going around in circles over 3rd primary dose of covid jab in despiration my hubby took me to a walk in clinic in Nuneaton today.

I didn't have an appointment but had my NHS letter they were absolutely marvellous ,saying they had received info re 3 Rd primary jabs and there was absolutely no problem not having an appointment.

So so grateful to the supervisor there and all the staff.
