In praise of GP yes you heard it here. New GP called me to say she has latest sputum result. Explained it to me in detail

Asked what my advice had been from respiratory team as they had results also. I explained team had not contacted me and l was managing as best l could. Her next words were l think you better come in so l can have a look at you !!!! Pseudonyms appear to be responding to gentamicin but l would like to make sure we are not missing any underlying symptoms. I was literally speechless. I ca not praise this GP enough and will be writing to the Practice manager to tell her what a wonderful Dr she is. After 2 years of seeing no one except for disastrous hospital stay someone is at last looking beyond the obvious. So many times because of on going lung conditions medical staff do not look for anything else. Meaning if something is found it can be too late to treat So a very big thankyou to an on the ball GP think l will keep this one x

I am lucky enough to have a similarly proactive GP, and it makes all the difference doesn’t it? I rang mine on Monday for our monthly check in to discuss a few things which I thought were relatively trivial and next thing I know I had an appointment yesterday. I now have an appointment for a gastroscope in a couple of weeks, an appointment with the nurse next week. I have been having worsening problems with eating so it’s not difficult to work out his reasoning. I just hope he is wrong, as I really don’t need anything else. When our doctors are good it makes all the difference because you know you have support when you need it . All the best xx

Yes she is an exception to the rule which is very nice for her patients

But most people are lumbered with Doctors who just don't care

Wish you well

That is such good news. My GP is also supportive and I have to work around her part time hours. That is worth the hassle most of the time. I hope it all gets better for you.

What a great GP. It makes all the difference. My GP is also excellent, but I have had uncaring ones in the past. Sometimes it is just the fact that someone listens to you and takes you seriously. I told my GP if she ever moves from here, I will be moving with her.
