Withdrawal from prednisolone

I have had terribly upsetting withdrawal symptoms from prednisolone which I had never been told about. My eyes are now “fuzzy”. Any thoughts please. Daisy 2408

Hiya ☺️, sorry to hear that you are not this well after finishing steorids. Fuzzy eyes, never had this when stopped taking it, fatigue, body ache and nausea... fuzzy eyes are new to me.You should definitely speak to your GP about this symptom. Do you take something else that might give you the symptom?

Hopefully it will pass after couple of weeks but I would speak to my GP about it.

Best wishes and get well soon again.

Hi. I have been on steroids for two weeks. I had awful side effects but persevered because the consultant wanted to see how/if I tolerated them. When the course finished I suffered too. My eyes are a little blurry but I put that down to a new eyeliner!

Hi Daisy, I had awful side effects whilst on dexamethasone with my eyes. I felt like they had been superglued and would never open again! On prednisolone, I had blurry eyes that took a few days to sort themselves out, but coming off both helped in that respect. If you're concerned with the way your eyes feel, let your GP know. Did you wean yourself off of them - I was told I didn't have to because I wasn't on them long enough, but I have misgivings about that!

Hello Daisy, 😊👋

How high was your dose of steroids? I have heard that some doctors do not taper the dose when stopping the steroids. This to my mind is a huge mistake. The withdrawal symptoms coming off of steroids is common unfortunately, 😒 especially if not tapered properly. Tapering allows the adrenal glands to return to their normal secretion. I remember I developed itchy legs for days after I finished my course of steroids some years ago. I am currently on a maintenance dose of 7mg a day. I have been on steroids for almost twenty (?) years. My eyes are very sensitive to light and my skin is paper thin.

Did you benefit from the steroids when you were on them? Make you sure you speak to your doctor about it. I hope the problem resolves itself soon.

Cas xx 👋😃
