A phone call this evening

.....from the Colonoscopy Dept. They are arranging a visit from the community nurse to carry out a Covid PCR test first this Sunday and an appointment for next Tuesday. Now that was quick, only referred Friday 9th just gone, along with a blood test, which I take must have been okay even though I don't have the electronic test results yet.

I'm glad that you haven't had to wait too long. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

To be honest, I am rather taken back over how fast it has happened, given the media reporting about the huge backlogs and only getting worse.

Roundabouts and swings of fate? A cat in a past life that did not use up it's nine lives?

I think colonoscopies classed as urgent through the covid hospital hierarchy, 2greys. John has had two during the 18 months of lockdown, both swiftly arranged and preceded by covid test. Trying to track reasons for his constant anaemia, but no answers yet.

I'm going through the same thing re anaemia. Have another gastroscopy on Monday after two colonoscopies and a gastroscopy in the past couple of months. I think it's a department with speedy throughput, if you know what I mean. xx Moy

Hope all goes well for you, MoyB. All these investigations take a bit of energy! My husband currently on six-weekly blood tests to decide whether the anaemia, and maybe any bleeding going on, is constant or intermittent. One more step along the road 💜

Thank goodness we live in a country where we can afford to have treatment and we have (mostly) decent health care options. Hope they find out what's going on with your husband. In my case, I honestly think the anaemia is down to over twenty years of regular Lansoprazole use and a rubbish diet (from the iron content point of view). But thankfully, they like to check all the bases these days which can only be a good thing - even if not always pleasant! xx Moy

In real terms though, this should have happened a year ago. I got as far as doing the blood test and had the results, then all went silent and the referral fell off the edge of the world, in the words of my Oncologist "it appears to have been purged off the system"..

No surprises there then, but at least you are on track now, we can only move on x

I think it's a department with 'speedy throughput' as I said to Yatzy, as in the past 3 months I've had two colonoscopies and a gastroscopy and another gastroscopy to come on Monday.

Good luck with the wonderful cleansing prep!

Hope it all goes ok for you and that any significant findings are swiftly and easily dealt with. xx Moy

The prep is horrible and leaves you so exhausted (washed out even!) that you’re really not fit for the “procedure” but adrenaline keeps you going till afterwards. What kept me going was the thought of a fish supper when I got home (which I never normally hanker after). Husband duly collected said delight which was no sooner consumed than unceremoniously rejected (up the way) by my stomach. Lesson learned, some toast is a much better idea!

Been there and done that! My answer now is a Wiltshire Farm Foods dinner - definitely not a curry! That was another mistake I learned from. Xx

Well good morning to you 2greys and that's a very good turn around time wise. If only all similar appointments could be that well organised? I'm sure the outcome will be good.... so best wishes. 🐿🌈😷.

Good luck. It’s not pleasant but it is not usually painful and you feel normal again quickly. Except.....read my cautionary tale to MoyB below but you, I’m sure would not be as foolish as I was.
