Going out

We have just come back from Clevedon, a lovely little seaside town on the other side of the Bristol Channel, about half an hour away. Quite busy despite regulations. Had a lovely lunch at a pub by the beach. It was fantastic to do something we haven’t been able to do for nearly eighteen months. Feel tired now, but worth it. I was also able to try out my new lightweight scooter, which I bought because it was easier for Peter to lift in and out of the car. Really had a lovely time.

How lovely for you. Nice to experience some normal activity. Bet that pub lunch was amazing. A lot of school children in my area are self isolating due to surges in covid at the schools. My 6 year old granddaughter is having to as someone in her class has it so life seems a bit more scary again round here Take care x

We have been reasonably lucky regarding COVID-19 as we live in a dead end geographically speaking, although my grandson aged 6 got it at school at Christmas, so we stayed at home and watched them open their parcels on Zoom.

Pub lunches here have become a real treat as well and we appreciate them more than we did before covid hit.

That sounds wonderful Carnival. It’s done you good to get out and about and on your new scooter too. Pete has one that’s not too heavy and fits well in the boot. Xxx

All the old Victorian seaside resorts around the country are going to find an upsurge in business, until the foreign travel restriction are lifted. Fine unless you live in one of 'em! 🤣 Were you pleased with your new scooter?

Yes I was pleased with the scooter, my last travel scooter irrevocably broke down and I refuse to become completely unable to go away anywhere. My road going scooter means I can go into town by myself, which means I can keep more independence.

Of course! My road going scooter has alloy wheels, much appreciated by the male half of the population. Never thought of alloy wheels as an attraction before, obviously I have been missing out all these years!

Glad you had a good time. Depending on your car you can get a hoist for putting scooter in/out of car. Really does make life easier.

I’m trying to persuade Peter to get a hoist, but he is stubborn so I have to be subtle!

They really do make life much easier. They are quite fun to operate as well! When I park in car parks I get at least one person asking me about it and how it works.

I’ve seen them working and I would like to get one, but as I say, my husband is resistant to change ( mildly autistic)

Thats wonderful, just down the road from me! A friend went just along from Swansea a few weeks ago. She said it was gorgeous with a marina and lots of cafés . They stayed in a Premier Inn for £30.

A day out has become such a treat. Glad you enjoyed it.

It most certainly has hasn't it?

For me covid has been a lesson in never taking anything for granted again!

Same here nowadays I really really enjoy days out more than I used to as you enjoy and appreciate things more when you have to have waited for them!

I used to live there years ago , I remember pushing a pram up and down the hills and losing my breath. Now I know why I was so breathless .

Yes, I can understand that, but a lovely place nevertheless x

I have been to Clevedon a few times and Portishead and enjoyed going there especially to the gardens on the front.

Nowadays when we go on days out usually we take a packed lunch with us like we used to do years ago and save the eating out for special occasions then we really really enjoy it more.

Oh I am o glad that you had such a lovely time. Living in Bristol makes Clevedon very accessible. I am so much better and weather is better than last time I went so it’s back on my list for a visit soon. Thanks for sharing that.
