Hi there everyone.... iv had bronchiectasis now for 38 years.. fairly severe in the base of both lungs.. however im lucky enough to be able to run.. so about a year ago now at the beginning of the 1st lockdown i started up a facebook group called 'Dodgy Lungs Running Group... we now have over 340 members.. all with lung problems etc.. Our members are all of different abilities.. some people just run an walk.. some are more seasoned runners... its a great friendly group and we all try to encourage and help each other with all different aspects of either starting up or advice on improving etc....You don't have to post anything and if you want to join just to have a browse then that's fine.. We all know the benefits of exercising with a lung condition.. .Anyhow heres the link...and hope to see you soon...๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you! I would probably quite enjoy ia running group. I used to run quite a bit then my asthma got really bad but maybe I could try again at some point. Not just yet as got other stuff going on but when I feel better .

I've never been able to master breathing while running as daft as that sounds... but maybe when were both a bit more "stable or normal" we should try it out? Xx๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜˜

Was really funny...we were once on a cruise to Alaska and it it was a day at sea so I decided to go to the gym. It was when I was much more fit. Anyhow I went on the running machine and put it my usual speed...I did walking/running intervals. I was the only one in there other than the two guys manning it and I heard one say โ€˜ wow, Iโ€™d love to see that girl on the track.โ€™ What they didnโ€™t realise it was quite by fluke I was running like an athlete because the machine was set in mph rather than kph!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I thought my legs were running two to the dozen in the scheme of my usual pace!!?๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

I'm still laughing, picturing the situation. I hope you got over the visit to the gym and enjoyed the rest of the cruise.

I know.. I found it really funny when I realised and thought Jess Ennis here I come!! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Oh my days, Alaska was seriously the most amazing and stunning place Iโ€™ve been so far and Iโ€™ve travelled pretty widely! I totally recommend it if anyone ever had the chance! It was just the unspoiltness of it by human hand.

Well keep smiling at my expense!

Hi ,that's fantastic to be able to do running with bronchiectasis, I wish I could but not only bronchiectasis and asthma but dodgy knees is keeping me from running, I do walk as often as I can though.

Walking is good for you too! Possibly better than running because less impact on the joints ! I think whatโ€™s most important is just to do a little bit of exercise of what you can manage little and often, than thinking youโ€™ve got to climb Everest! Itโ€™s maintainable and hopefully enjoyable then!

Oh no! Iโ€™m sorry to hear that Boxermad. I imagine theyโ€™re both pretty painful! Hope they can treat the pain so itโ€™s under control!
