I had a fall at home recently and had spent a fe w days in the Royal Sussex County Hospital. during that time, I developed a rash which I stll have alhough much less. Cause of rash unknown, suggestiions allergic to a mediction, and to th possiblity of the deteregent they wash the sheets and blankets in. Was given antihistamines 4 hrly prn. One night my back was so itchy the nurse applied some cream from a tube on the table. In the morning it was discovered he used Euthymol toothpaste! !! Have to say it worked.!. There seemed to be quite a few employed selective hearing staff, A couple of night staff did not wear their masks and impatient with certain patients. However, there were some dedicated nurses. One from the Pediatrics who was helping out due to staff shortage was excellent. She stayed way over her time to look after a patient. Whoever gets her as their carer/nurse will be very lucky indeed. The medical staff were good. One trainee Dr ame up with an answer to my dry mouth. Overall my care was satisfactory under the circumstances. They were busy and appeared to be short of staff, and I was so pleased to come home for a decent nights sleep and peace and quiet. all keep safe. cheeers.

What an experience! I hope you're getting better from the fall and the rash (who knew toothpaste would work 🤣) and from the whole saga. Hopefully now that you're home and getting more sleep you will start to recover from it all. Sending you lots of good wishes 🐑

Sorry to hear of your fall and that you had to go to hospital. It sounds like a mixed hospital experience and I’m glad you managed to get home again now. Funnily enough when I was a teenager and had bad acne my mum used to say put toothpaste on my spots overnight and it helped 😂Hope you feel fully recovered soon! Be careful!

How interesting about the toothpaste. Glad you didn't have to stay very long in hospital. Spooks. You certainly had a unique experience though and found there are still some people who are prepared to go over and above their duty. I'm interested to know what the doctor recommended for a dry mouth. I have it at night and have tried a number of things not terribly successful.Cheers. X

hello RoadRunner 44. trust you are okay. I did report the staff member who was impatient with an Asian lady who was trying to explain how she wanted her pillows, but the carer did not give her time. Was told if the patient had not complained it would not be followed up as the patient was discharged, with regards to sone carers not wearing their masks, it was ignored by the staff nurse on duty who was wearing hers, The Dr suggest just ordinary tinned lemonade and boiled sweets, Since being home, a neighbour suggeste fresh lemon and the same anount of water. \That did not work. so still tryinh tto find something that works. will lr you know if successfilul. Have been informed toothpaste good fo spots. Knowing my luck at present if I tried that on a spot it was be enlarged rather than dry up, on that note that is what I will do. take care cheers,

At least you haven't lost your sense of humour spooks. However, going in to hospital is a big thing. As well as being unwell and amongst strangers it can be a very distressingl time. I expect you are glad to be home now.

Look after yourself.

Cheers

I am sorry to hear of your fall Spooks and feel pleased that you are now at home and can rest easy, hopefully the rash has now gone and I must remember the trick with toothpaste. I think you should have reported the staff who were impatient with people and not wearing masks , people in hospital are not well and need looking after, even if they are short staffed. I do hope you get well soon x
