Had my covid jab 48 hrs ago. I was very unwell after. Within 30 mins I had collapsed and my face swelled up. Couldn't open my eyes and my lips were huge. I had trouble breathing and they started me on prednisone. Tablets are kicking in now. Still can't eat because of nausea but hopefully I will soon pick up.

Please take care of yourself...so sorry u had to go through that!! Which vaccine did you receive ?
Pfizer vaccine. Still got muscle and joint pain. I've been advised not to have the 2nd jab. Thanks for your support.
Yikes! That’s awful. Here in the states where I live only phizer is available. Now I’m scared!
I was fine, did not even know I had been vaccinated, so sorry for Toby, said on the leaflet this is a rare reaction.
Dont be. This is rare. I always was a weakling
Far from being weak, it sounds like an unusual allergic reaction, which has now passed and been replaced by a normal immune response (hence the aches and pains).
I understand from another post that the yellow card system operates for vaccines, just as it does for other medication reactions and, if you feel up to it, it might well be worth reporting.
Hope you recover quickly.
Oh, no - this sort of thing is definitely nothing to do with being weak! (and here I'm speaking up in my own defence too!)I also had Pzfizer jab, didn't even have a sore arm afterwards - BUT, a few weeks ago, I had an absolutely awful reaction to a change in my BP meds (thought I was about to explode 😫) and yet you might well be totally fine if you were given that medication. We're all just that bit different, and aren't going to react in the same way to everything, are we?Hope that you improve very quickly. It'd be nice to think that - even with the bad reaction - you might have got some anti-COVID benefit from the jab? 🤞
That’s awful Toby. Hope you feel better soon. Take care xxxx
So sorry you went through this dreadful reaction.Cx
I'm so sorry that you had an awful reaction. I do hope that it settles down quickly.
Sorry that you had such a severe reaction. It is a good job that you still had attention 30 minutes after having the vaccine. I hope that you are soon fully recovered.
Oh no, that sounds scary! Sorry you had such a terrible reaction! Hope you start feeling properly better soon!
Oh that's awful. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better now.
That sounds awful, hope you are ok soon .😥
You poor thing and my hubby thought he was bad when the next day he had throbbing headache running nose and cough last about 3 days
Sorry you had a bad reaction, sounds like it made you really poorly. I think it's good advice not to have the 2nd Jab, you will be afforded a good amount of immunity even with one Jab. I had mild flu like symptoms for 24 hrs wasn't to bad slept most of the time. I had the Oxford one. Take care Xxx
Sorry to hear about your reaction, I hope you’re soon fully recovered xx
How high a dose of prednisone?.
Sounds like you needed adrenaline for anaphylaxis, not pred, unless you mean they’ve given you that since? I had itching, rash, and then swelling of the mouth and throat with the pfizer, but the anaphylaxis was stopped with quick use of adrenaline at the vaccine centre and a second dose in the ambulance.
I had a bad reaction and collapsed with a bee sting once and was given a pen to stab myself with. That was bad because I was passed out
Oh my word Charlie that must have been scary, good job this happened at the centre where you could be treated x
It definitely wasn’t fun, but I don’t regret it. That said, it may make me slightly more nervous going for a second jab, even though they’ve told me I should be absolutely fine with the Oxford 😬🙈 It’s the whole point of asking people to wait: most if not all serious reactions to any of the vaccines are happening within the first 15 minutes. Those with a history of anaphylaxis to anything should be asked to wait for 30, just to be sure they’re ok, but as in my case, they’re finding that most people reacting to the Pfizer in particular actually have no known history of allergies. The anaphylaxis rate is still minuscule though - it’s 10 in every million doses atm, or 0.001%. The staff at the vaccine centre were so quick to respond, A&E told me I was too well looking for an anaphylaxis patient 😂
I feel so bad for you that you had to go through such a horrible reaction. So glad that you received proper care. Please take care and rest
So sorry hope it wears off soon!
I had the Oxford one. Was knocked of my feet . High temp .38.5c shivering and my ribs ached but just lasted 24hrs ish. Never any probs with flu jabs etc.
Will they try a different vaccine for your booster?
Told me not to have it as I was allergic to the vaccine
I’ve been told the Oxford is a possibility for a second dose for those who have had anaphylaxis in response to the Pfizer, but to avoid any mRNA vaccine (so the Pfizer, and also ones like the moderna). Might be worth speaking to your GP.
How frightening! I hope you are feeling much better by now. I had the Oxford one and had no reaction at all , lucky me. My husband had flu like symptoms and a heavy nose bleed the following morning but was fine by evening. Take care 🍀
Oh dear! Thats a bad reaction.hope u sop feel better.which vaccine were u given xx
Omg that sounds awful and scary. Glad your feeling better.
Gosh that sounds scary must of been awful for you hope you feel better soon sending big hugs your way
So glad you are feeling better....what a scare for you. Keep safe now
Sorry you has such a bad reaction, and glad you are recovering now. I had the same vaccine and saw on the leaflet given to me that this is an extreme reaction. Must have been very scary.
It would be good Toby if you could be tested on the individual components of this vaccine, to see which one you are allergic to so you can avoid it in the future.I’m glad your feeling better, keep up the good work. Jax. x
Oh my goodness, how awful, you wont want to have the 2nd one then, you obviously have allergies you didnt know about, hope you'll feel much better soon xx
Oh my goodness you have been through it,I hope you feel better soon and I can definitely understand that you are not going to have the 2nd jab.stay safe and good luck.
Hope you soon recover.
Hope you are much better now
Thinking of you x
Sorry you had what sounds like an awful experience. Have you ever reacted to any other vaccine like that? Whooping cough for example?
i had the pfizer and had a banging headache for 3 days and could barely lift my arm, That was 2 weeks ago and my arm is still aching..Hope you feel better soon Toby
Oh dear, sorry to hear you had such a bad reaction. Did you receive any advice about a second dose?
I thought any reaction was within 15 mins, very worrying that yours was 30 mins after, were you still at the centre where you had the jab? Very scary, you could have been in your home alone, or driving back, hope you are feeling ok now x
i stayed in the centre for 15 mins. I was fine. I was 2 mins from home driveing when i suddenly felt giddy and sick. Fell out the car on my driveway , vomited, managed to get through the front door and slumped to the floor. my partner who has dementia just said i’ll make a cup of tea, crawled into bed(we have bungalow) no stairs thank good. Felt my face go funny. looked in a little mirror by the bed and my face was bloated ,lips swelling eyes piggy. I only have one lung So i keep antibiotics and prednisone in a emergency for infections. Took 6 prednisone. Rang doctor who said keep calm came straight out. I was starting to breathe a bit better. Doctor came said i did right thing but was reluctant to send me to hospital. He stayed a hour. Told me he had seen a few bad reactions. The steroids kicked in and i’m feeling so much better, sorry this is long
Very frightening and do wonder if steroids were the answer to this reaction. Hope you have reported this on the yellow scheme x
How awful and scary for you. X
Oh so sorry you have had such a bad reaction to the vaccine, do hope that you recover soon. Take care of yourself. xx
I’m so sorry to hear this Toby I had my covid jab Thursday eight hours later I felt awful headache felt nauseous hot and cold haven’t eaten properly since ... still have headache and feel tired ... just listening on tv and a scientist is saying if you’ve had covid the reactions to the injection can be worse and I’m thinking I had it before in January 2020 so maybe that’s why I still feel awful.
That was bad luck and must have been very scary for you. Glad to hear that you are recovering. Best wishes from Marlbee
Hope you're a lot better soon, take care x
Wow - that was a scary reaction. Glad things back on track now. Definitely advisable not to have second dose, but at least you should still have some protection from the first.
So glad they gave you what you needed.Your doctor or you directly can put this side effect into the monitoring of side effects (I heard about it on LBC radio - the Yellow card system (although probably the centre did that)yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/
Yes. I should have had a yellow card before when i collapsed with a bee sting
Gosh! that sounds really awful. Thank goodness you are beginning to recover. I hope the nausea goes away soon and you start to feel really better.
That is terrible Toby, makes you wonder how safe anything is. Not sure whether to bother after reading that
OMG that’s awful. Hope u feel better soon. Will u try a different one or not🤷♀️
omg hope your on the mend bless you i had the AZ one i had a bad headache the next day plus so tired then the day after i was fine, which one did you have, take care x
Sounds though you have had a anaphaletic shock
Oh you poor darling....I so feel for you and your situation. Many thanks for sharing your experience with the jab. I hope you recover quickly and no more nasties happen to you. Take good care. You are not alone, I have heard of others too who have had nasty reactions to the Pfizer jab. This is totally new type of vaccine ever to be introduced into our world. So bound to have varied reactions. Do you think you will have the second jab? Whatever you decide hope you keep safe and well physically, emotionally and spiritually. All the very best to you and yours.
