Update - cavitating lung lesion 3.7cm

Yesterday we got my husbands CT scan results which we were dreading.

We had done what everyone tells you not to do and Dr googled ‘cavitating lung lesion’ plus as we were aware my husband had been transferred to the Cancer pathway for his CT scan we automatically thought the worst.

The cavitating lung lesion turned out to be a cavitated Asbestos which the specialist explained meant my husband had been in contact with a small amount of Asbestos at some point, but the lung had self healed itself and cavitated around the Asbestos leaving a bit of a boney matter, but basically nothing to worry about!

The CT scan did also show a 6mm nodule which they will now keep an eye on and give 12 monthly CT scans for. The nodule wouldn’t have been picked up on a normal X-ray so I’m feeling very blessed that he had the cavitated asbestos as it alerted us to the 6mm nodule on his lung which will now be kept a close eye on!

He has also been told to stop smoking which I’m going to make sure he does properly this time!

I hope this experience may help someone else out there.

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind comments and advice, it really helped us get through a dark time, thank you 😊

I really hope so, I will keep reminding of how he felt and also made me and our children feel...bit of emotional blackmail for his own good can’t do any harm 😉

Well if another problem arises his consultant might not be so sympathetic. 🤔x

M so pleased your news is better than the expected.Don’t mad him too much about smoking,it can have te reverse effect.

We successfully gave up smoking 30 years ago when I bet my husband a £100 bet.

We succeeded,it was hard, but it was a good incentive.

I think if we did it today it would have to be &1000 realistically.

Stay safe

Yes I kind of gave up nagging him to stop years ago as realised he had to want to do it, he does keep giving up but then starts again when stressed.I was a smoker myself until 15 years ago but I was never as addicted as him and more a social smoker so managed to give up quite easily, he’s been bought up with a house full of tobacco smoke from the time he was born as his parents were heavy smokers...so to him it feels like coming home every time he lights up a cigarette.

Betting him he can’t do it is a good idea, I might give it a try! Thank you😊

Sounds like good news and some relief for you both. Now they are monitoring the small nodule they found should give you some peace of mind. Keep safe. John
