Thank you everyone for your replies it would seem that this is very much a hit & miss way of getting it. My Rhuematoligist prescribedVitamin D around 2018 but when tested my vitamin D was fine so it was agreed with GP not needed. However this year I have been house bound so it might be needed as I have an history of broken bones and taking steroids annd no sunshine. Just have to see what happens.

If you have had prescription Vitamin D in the past, Katie, it may be worth asking your GP to prescribe it again.
I agree with CDPO16 Katie, might be worth contacting GP. I personally haven’t applied for free vitamin D as have plenty but if it’s being offered people should be able to get it. Wishing you well. Xxx😘
Vitamin D costs your GP pennies katie. All of us with lung conditions should be taking it permanently. At least 1600 iu per day. I cannot take it in through my skin because it is now so thin. My doc put me on it in 2016 and I have had two chest viruses and no colds since!Kick your GP into touch and get it put on your repeat.
Yes Amazon is a good service & quick and has remained so during the pandemic. In my case my vitamin D was normal in 2019 without supplements must be eating a good diet because I don't sunbathe due to it being best when you have had skin cancer in the past. Normal fresh air works for me of which I have now been short of since March 2020 for varied reasons. One being total knee replacement. So everyone is different in their need for vitamin D. I do take steroids which I beleive can reduce bone density but after several Dexa scans it seems my bone density so far has not been reduced. Hey there it sounds like I am quite healthy without substituting my diet with herbal remedies arn't I lucky ? But I still have a lung condition and multi joint arthritis.
