Oh no, where do you live? Seen it on the news Gingerapple! It's raining again here and been raining most day and night here but thank goodness no flooding where I live๐Ÿ™

Gingerapple in reply to Snowdrops_17

Hi Snowdrops,I couldn't get any help from anyone, probably because it came only through door and hall. Nobody helped, I suppose there were worse flooding elsewhere. I am in Chester, so here was bad. W by as t I'm mad about is the council couldn't find the storm drain to clear the water so it all ran down into my bungalow ๐Ÿ˜ In emergencies people are not competent always and then they pass the buck on to other departments!

So what is happening now as you may have to leave your home Gingerapple????So sorry you ended up flooded! On top of of everything else!!!

Jaybird19 in reply to Gingerapple

So sorry to hear about you not getting any help, That council is my council too. It is not a brilliant council. They delivered a load of sandbags one year when i had a flood and they were uselss as half rotted and fell apart as handled. Sand everywhere. Flooding is awful especially in bungalow with nowhere higher to escape to.My stepson lives in chester, near Mickle Trafford and I have friends there too .

Gingerapple profile image
Gingerapple in reply to Jaybird19

Hey Jaybird,Thanks for the sympathy especially with the council, they are pretty useless, that is the problem last night, 90% of the storm drains are blocked๐Ÿ˜ณlol....what is wrong with this picture?! The man who came couldn't find the storm drain under water, it's just so useless. I hope your stepson and friends are safe!

They didn't have any sandbags when they got to me. I bought a few last year for this emergency but I can't lift them! ๐Ÿ˜„Its so sad, truly. But everything is dryer now๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿฅฐ

So sorry to hear this. Hope the flood waters are going down now. Will it take a lot of clearing up?

Hi,Thank you for your message. It's pretty bad for a lot of people who have been evacuated but I've finished almost clearing up and I am resting now๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

If you are flooded out I am so sorry. Have you had to move out of your home or are you getting help staying where you are..? It is dreadful here in parts of Wales too. What a dreadful start to the new year. Keep safe and keep us posted how you are getting on.C x

No,no help here, I have to help myself. I wonder how other people are faring who were evacuated?๐Ÿ˜”These people I feel for.

Gingerapple in reply to RoadRunner44

I hear it's bad in Wales and at least you're ok. Lots of evacuees here, I'm lucky to have escaped the worst flooding. Take care๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’

So sorry to hear that you have been flooded out, have seen on the news about the amount of people that this has happened to. This on top of the Covid restrictions you do have a lot to cope with. Please take care and will be thinking off you and all those others having to deal with such a terrible situation.โค๏ธ

That's awful, Gingerapple, as if there weren't enough problems. I do hope that you have help and are able to stay somewhere safe. Wishing you well xx

Yes, me! Couldnโ€™t get to my mum for usual care yesterday. Had to turn back from very flooded, closed roads, with continuous downpours. After yesterdayโ€™s drenching, woke up to snow covered world today. Bright blue skies.....such a huge change โ˜€๏ธ Will try the drive again today.

Hoping youโ€™re coping, Bev ๐Ÿ˜˜ xx

Check your journey first Yatzy! ๐Ÿ™ hopefully the water has receded a bit now!

Gingerapple profile image
Gingerapple in reply to Yatzy

Oh no!! I know how bad the streets and roads were, water up to the hilt! I hope your Mom was ok, it's really scary when the water starts lapping under the door! Yes, and now snow and blue skies and windy๐Ÿ˜ณWeird. I hope you get to your Mom. I'm coping well, just tired now. Get there and back safely! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿค—โค

Yatzy profile image
Yatzy in reply to Gingerapple

Thanks, Bev. Just reading how water actually came under your door!! Poor, poor you, so scary! Have you had much water damage in your hall? Itโ€™s blocked drains causing a lot of the floods on minor roads round here, near Northwich. A49 closed too yesterday. Think itโ€™s open again today, but Iโ€™ll see as I try to start my journey again.

My mum ok thanks, she has other more local carers, just lonely. Penny ๐Ÿ˜˜โ„๏ธโ˜€๏ธ xx

Gingerapple profile image
Gingerapple in reply to Yatzy

Ah Penny,It's the same here, I called the Council, Highways, they came after 5 hours, so busy, and he couldn't find the storm drain so the water was gushing down onto my property, a bungalow๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธand the rain gutters? were overwhelmed and all the rain water fell into the porch and front door! A....it's so awful for the elderly and/or 'infirm' as they used to say. It's scary, too for elderly alone too when it's storming!

Well, carpet dried almost, not too much damage, I was already putting down some towels after 10pm last night, thank goodness it stopped and snowed ๐Ÿ˜ŠI've put a chicken in the oven and I have found a nice wine to go with it๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Alls well that ends well, eh๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿท

The perfect comfort food, Bev! Cheers ๐Ÿท๐Ÿท!!

So glad you coped eventually, but such a shock isnโ€™t it ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

The roads still closed here, as floods drain off fields, so not venturing out yet. My mum seems ok, and her other carers are getting through. Take great care and stay safe ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜ ๐Ÿ’œ xx

๐Ÿท๐Ÿท๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜ŠCheers Penny! Perfect!๐Ÿ˜ŠIt is a shock because you can't really stop water unless you have manpower behind you. Roads are closed around here, too so maybe no Amazon package today๐Ÿ˜‰I'm glad your mum is ok now and carers getting through. The day is beautiful, you wouldn't believe we were flooded yesterday apart from the awful aftermath of the evacuated homes under water๐Ÿ˜”Take care Penny and catch you again soon๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜˜โค๐Ÿ’Be safe

Hi Chrisko,Thank you for that. I'm a bit of a fraud for that little amount of water, I have seen the people who were evacuated and their homes, so do sad๐Ÿ˜”

Oh gosh Bev sorry to hear about your flood. It's truly awful. My son and his family live in the suburbs of Warrington and the excess water has damaged the underground electricity cable so they had no electricity downstairs until the electrician came out . Fortunately no flooding for them . Hope all is going better now especially after your chicken feast. xx

Oh! Bev, my heart goes out to you but I do like your sense of humour regarding the chicken and wine, nothing like comfort food. Could you get help from help the aged or care and repair team, surely there must be an organisation out there that can give you some help. I dont know if i would have been as upbeat as you, but good on you girl for not letting it get you down. Hugs x

Hello dear Spicy Other Bev ๐Ÿ‘ I've been awake since 2am and reading through some of the many posts I missed when my internet wasn't working due to the bad weather here. I had rain coming through my door but nothing as bad as your experience. I hope things have improved there now. Since the great flood it's been incredibly cold and icy with some snow and hail. At least it's dry indoors but very cold. Oh well can't have everything ๐Ÿ˜‚ I hope you're doing ok ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
