Hello all, has anyone filled in a form for vitamin D from the government and received it please? I filled in the form as I have been housebound with no sun last year and thought it was delivered in January, but not heard anything .

Thanks sassy59, I can order them on line or ask my GP but was just checking to see if anyone had had them via the other route.

Hello Katie I haven’t received mine either. I was told back in September to take a daily vitamin D which I’ve done. They are being very slow at getting them out to us clinically extremely vulnerable. Hope you’re getting over your operation. X

I'm making slow progress after the op, went to the post box today feel like I've been on first visit to gym :) but thanks for asking. Have to keep watching the post for the vitamin D delivery.

Hi Nalakrats , I was just asking if anyone had got theirs as not everyone can afford to buy their own and we don't live in USA . Its part of our winter keep healthy plan by the government and I beleive comes out of the taxes we pay for the NHS. Of course I can ask my GP for a prescription or buy them from Holland & Barrett at a discount. Not everyone has a computer even in this digital day and age. Thank you for your reply though.

Yes I got mine start of January. Remember that I have ordered some over a text message I got from Gov. Took quite a long time when I ask my other half, and he told me you will get them in January, I couldn't remember that LOL 😋. But know that a friend of mine got them actually yesterday. So guess they facing problems with delivery times taking all longer than usual. My sister send me a card for Xmas she send it away on 6th of December from Germany and I got the card on last Friday, over a month, that's really ridiculous but been always this long. That's why I not sending Cards anymore. But I know that other delivery working much faster. Hope you will get them soon Katie best wishes and stay safe and warm 🌹🌹🌹

I got mine in December but I’m in Scotland and there’s much less sunshine here! I only took it in case I couldn’t get the online one I buy which has K2 in it as well. Thought supplies might be affected by Brexit.

I received mine yesterday but was a waste of time as the dose they are giving out is only 400IU which I believe is only about half the recommended minimum anyway.

Hi Katie. I have had two letters with regards to vitamin D, one from NHS Scotland and the other from NHS England. I however have not taken them up on the vitamin D because I have sarcoidosis.

The charity SarcoidosisUK fought to have an extra piece of information added because as a sarcoidosis patient we convert vitamin D 2.50 to vitamin D 1.25. This is dangerous for sarcoidosis patients as it can elevate in us and cause problems.

If anyone here is a sarcoidosis patient it is best to contact your consultant and ask for the vitamin D 1.25 blood test to ensure it’s levels are within normal parameters.

If in doubt about taking vitamin D it is always best to have a conversation with your consultant.

Regards, Lesley

Hi Katie I got mine I think it was November I’m in Scotland hope you get yours soon. I’ve never taken them before but after this I’ll probably buy them myself I’m sure they must do some good. I love gardening so I hope to be outside getting my vitamin d but not today we’ve been told to except up to 40cm of snow today. But I think the flooding in England and Wales that’s worse!! Take care Jen

HiI do hope that everyone is coping alright.

Yes, I recently submitted the forms for vD free winter supply and once I have, there was an informative message simply stated they will make a decision by the end of Feb 2021.

So, I am just second guessing that is a matter of waiting game.

Take care. Stay well&sound.

Tanya 🤗

Although I have COPD, Asthma and Left Bundle Branch Block, my GP doesn't class it as severe, so not sheilding; therefore no offer of VIT D from the Scottish Government; I thought this was only in England anyway.I signed up to a vitamin D trial and recieved enough for 6 months in December.

There as recently been an open letter from 200 medics on the subject of vitamin D. The amount advised by the government is a maintenance dose which many experts feel is to low. Interestingly when they signed the document they put how much vitamin D they were taking each day. All were above the government's recommended dose. I contacted my GP when I received the letter and she advised me to take a far higher dose than the government's guidelines. Both my wife and I have conditions which our levels are monitored and both of us are on doses which are far higher than the recommended dose. The main problem with the recommended dose is that they are for the average individual not someone with multiple problems.

Try calling your doctor direct as when I rang the doctors pharmacy I was told in no uncertain terms to go off and by it myself, so no sympathy there , not that I want to take there money but there are nice ways to explain, so yes if you have a nice doctor and your house bound I think that’s where to start. Good luck 👍🏻
