They are doing the over 80's first, then the over 70's and clinically vulnerable so you qualify on 2 counts. Apparently there are 15 million in this group so it's bound to take time.

I had a newsletter from my practice today saying all over 80s now contacted, most jabbed so over 70s to expect a phone call. Any over 80s who had not been contacted were urged to contact the surgery..You are in the next group and should hear soon. It is also patchy because surgeries join together in groups to vacc at a single venue. Try not to worry and give it a little while.

You are not alone, I have heard nothing also. The post is very unreliable, I only got the Gov letter about shielding in the latest lockdown yesterday.

I’ve heard nothing either, but Wales is slower than anywhere else.

I got my notification by text from the surgery. If you are classed officially as clinically vulnerable it should be soon.

i hope so

No ,my husbands had no word either other than a text last week telling us not to phone the surgery which we had no intention of doing anyway🙄. We are in the NW

i have not heard anything from my gp seems they are just pulling names out of hat

Yes, I'm in the same category as you. All my friends and acquaintances, some younger than myself, have already been vaccinated, but none of them are registered with my particular practice.I did manage to get answer out of my GP practice yesterday as I thought I might have been missed, but they say they are only half way through category 2 so far.... so I might get called in the next two weeks.

Difficult to understand how in one small city one general practice can stand out as so much slower than all the others. Might have to change practices.

same here seems other practices are sending texts but not mine.

I’m 75 and CEV too, my GP service seems to be doing age descending they seem to be doing age 77 at the moment, all the GP practices are allocated a certain amount each week and there is a local hub being used. My brother in law aged 77 is going on Sunday. I’m hoping my turn very soon. X

Wales is way behind. I havent heard either . Also in over 75's and vulnerable. Quite a few in their 30's who are NOT key workers and no underlying health issues have been vaccinated. Really annoying seeing their posts on Social Media. 🙈🙈xx

yes that seems true a lot of my friends and neighbours have had theirs and they are not extremely vulnerable

My wife's grandmother who is 96 is going today. I personally think it will be a few more weeks before those in their 70s and those clinically vulnerable will get appointments in my area. I only received my shielding letter last week so I am not getting my hopes up yet.

i know quite a few friends and family in 70s have had it done in our area .

Yes even though they announced that over 70's and CEV would start this week, not in the area where I live which apparently has the slowest roll out in England, and likewise only recently received Shielding letter so like you I am not getting my hopes up either.

We are hearing today that the supply of vaccines is not good. So I won't be holding my breath. Over 80s still not being vaccinated in my area of Kent....may be May or June 😊I think if you are living in a city or large town you are more likely to get vaccinated. Apparently its NHS England giving orders for large vaccination sites only to fit their criteria for vaccination, leaving all the small villages with nothing.

i can believe that they just want to make no up there is a lot of people in 70s been done in my area.

Yes I think the supplies are going to these big vaccination centres and as we don't have one of those in my area (or anywhere near) we are getting left behind.

We live in Kent as well in a village and nothing has started yet. Heard hoping to start over 80 next week. Seams a bit of post code lottery.

I am over 70 and clinically vulnerable but have only heard of a few in their 70s who have had letters ect . I know in my area they are still doing the over eighties. It is a bit confusing I am sure you will be done soon as there are four weeks till the february deadline and notice can be quite sudden when the vaccine arrives in your area.

it is just that in our area there is quite a few that i know friends and family aged from 72 to 77 that have had it .

Well I'm not even on the radar. I'm in club 70, terminal and have shielded, isolated whatever since this all began off my own back. I am housebound as far as my Surgery is concerned, have a DNR, but have never received one single letter or text message about anything least of all a vaccine. Now that I've read that 23 of the 29 who have died in Norway following the vaccine, were all terminal I can't say I'm too happy on being giving something that might hasten my demise even quicker than expected even though I'm way past my sell-by-date already!!

It seems to be another disorganised, government mess. As I wrote on Tuesday I received the call that morning out of the blue and got the jab at our small community hospital in Braintree, which is not a great big town. Total chaos. They seemed to be anxious to say 'we've vaccinated a large no of people', regardless of the fact that a lot of them are likely to have developed coughs, colds and worse. 🤔🤧🤒🥴

Annie31 profile image
Annie31 in reply to Alberta56

That's how it's comes across to me. It seems to me the government wants to boast about the numbers everyday and that being more important. This way it detracts from the areas where they are failing to get the hubs and vaccines set up quickly enough.
