Good morning all :)

I have found some, or a lot of info lately about cancer and the vaccine.

'The news that 2 COVID-19 vaccines have been approved and are now being rolled out offers hope of a return to normal life in 2021. For people with cancer this could mean less anxiety about attending hospital appointments, fewer changes to treatment and shorter waiting times. At this stage, although we can’t be sure whether the vaccines will work quite as well in people having cancer treatment because of the effect that cancer treatment can have on the immune system, experience with other vaccines suggests that the COVID-19 vaccines should offer protection against COVID-19 for people with cancer.'

Well, I'm not too sure about having the vaccine at the moment, and if, then I want to have the AstraZeneca....but

'15 January – Guidance on the COVID-19 vaccine for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy

The UK Chemotherapy Board has produced a comprehensive document of FAQs on the Pfizer–BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare professionals treating patients on systemic anti- cancer therapies (SACT) such as chemotherapy, antibody therapy or immunotherapy.

The document outlines that all patients receiving SACT should be considered for a COVID-19 jab. ....????

These FAQs were produced in response to questions by cancer specialists about giving the vaccine to people with cancer receiving SACT. They may be used by cancer specialists, along with any local guidelines, to help decide the best timing for giving the vaccines in people receiving SACT.

You can talk to your GP or cancer specialist when you’re offered the vaccine to discuss timings. We’ve got further information about the different vaccines, summarising the guidance from the UK Chemotherapy Board, here.

It's not easy considering a vaccine and since 23 people, aged over 80, frail...? have died from side effects, but who knows....it's just news again.....

I find myself in a weird situation as I don't know if I still have lung cancer but definitely breast cancer.......It's a numbing day again today.....

Have a great Sunday and hope you're breathing easy...

Loads of love, Bev xxxx

I had a recent consultation with my Oncologist, who is head of the Oncology Clinic, and he stressed the importance of having the vaccine, despite having had the virus. I am not currently having any cancer treatment though.

Lovely to hear from you Bev but it seems confusing to me. You need clarity I feel.

Thinking of you dear lady. Take care and stay safe. Xxx💖💕💕

Hi dear Bkin,Yes, that was the article.

I am usually a good thinker and make good decisions but I'm a bit of a loss here momentarily.

Have a lovely Sunday 🤗💐🎈

My dear Spicy fruit Bev,i imagine that all those recieving cancer treatment will be looked at on an individual basis by their oncologists and advised accordingly,if you trust them with your cancer treatment then i imagine that trust will be best served in taking their guidance.Love and best wishes to you.

Hi bev quite a relief to speak to you in the same position. My oncologist says no to the vaccine, I take azithromycin 3 times a week for the lungs the consultant says not at this time, its a minefield with no clarification. In September I was taken off oral blood thinners whilst on chemo and inject daily with clexane whilst on chemo last cycle 27th January then what?? No help anywhere just waffling . I don't have bowel cancer now but a spot on my liver, maybe maybe not csncer maybe Ra like the lungs, I m going crazy trying to sort things. Might go down the receptionist route...I'm not medically trained. Well bev any advice would be good, take care goid luck jane

My friend who is currently having chemotherapy, after having had surgery to remove the cancer late last year, was told she’s not in a priority group for the vaccine. This despite having to get return flights for each of her chemo sessions. I don’t know what to say to you about you having the vaccine. Do you have a doctor or consultant whose advice you trust? Not an easy thing to decide. Sending you lots of sheepy hugs 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

I read the news from Norway regarding the now 29 people that have died from the covid vaccine and must admit that it is worrying. I think it has to be a personal choice depending on your health. I am on immune supressants and do worry about this. I am also sensitive to alot of meds and had a very bad reaction from the flu jab years ago which left me poorly for over 12 months, so am very unsure if I will have it or not. I would speak with your oncologist who can advise you x
