Hi everyone, happy Xmas! 🎅

Back in Feb I had R lung surgery due to my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I'd had 4 collapsed lungs in short space of time due to air pockets that kept bursting! I had the pockets removed and stapled and then lungs stuck to my chest cavity with own blood, very sore indeed!

I just wondered who else had had this procedure, it's left me with a really annoying cough, like an allergy cough and very sensitive in my chest to cleaning products etc, even after 9 months? I'm wondering if this is all normal and anyone has similar experiences?

Thanks, Ant

Hi, that sounds like rather grim surgery and I can imagine that it must have been very painful post op. Sorry that I can't answer your question but it may be worth trying the BLF helpline to speak to one of the nurses. The only other thing I can suggest is that if you are still under the care of the surgeon who performed the op you could ask him/her. Best wishes.

I had a lower left lobectomy bc of a collapsed lung from bronchiectasis. I do not have those coughing issues you have mentioned so maybe you should speak to your doc! The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Good luck.Sarah

After i had LVRS in oct 2018 I was left with a dreadful cough that took 5 months to go . My surgeon said after lung surgery its quite common to be left with a cough . Yours still going on after 9 months , maybe a telephone call to your health official will clarify your situation. Good luck and have a happy Christmas .Best wishes Babs ❤

Can't add any info to that given above (do give BLF helpline a call, as suggested by CDPO16 above). Wish you well and hope things improve soon.

Hi, Merry 🎄Christmas to you and your nearest and dearest. Gosh what a lot you've been through and our trusted members are right in pointing you to ring your Surgeons Secretary, or your GP, or finally ring the BLF freephone for advice. The phones are manned by Nurses with years of experience in Respiratory and General Medical issues. Please let us know if you got any answers etc. 🐿🌈x.

Hope things start getting easier soon Ant. It does take some time to heal and sensitivity to strong smells, products can be an ongoing issue. Please get back to your surgeon ( via his secretary) if you need advice/ reassurance / follow up. Take care . Cx
