What to expect from a video meeting?

Hello everyone, Just to update you with my journey..... I received an email today giving me a video appointment with the Royal Brompton Hospital! on the 18th December. I realise this doesn't mean I will be treated by them (but I am keeping everything crossed!) I would love to hear from anyone that has gone through this, to give me any advice tips etc. The interview would be to see if I am suitable for fitting coils.

I wanted to post this following on from my other posts, but cannot find a way of doing this.

How are you receiving the video? I had one on my mobile phone after becoming concerned about a cut on my leg. The doctor talked to me and asked me to point my phone at my leg. He was able to tell me that it wasn't infected etc. He also admired my socks!😂

Good luck for your appointment in 3 weeks time.

Hi Woofly.... I’m not exactly sure what you are expecting from this video meeting but I had one very recently with my Oncologist who isn’t visiting my Hospital at present for face to face consultations although fortunately we have an excellent Chemotherapy Unit there so I haven’t got to travel. My consultation with him was to discuss their recommendation for Chemotherapy after Breast Cancer Surgery in September...initially they thought just Radiotherapy but Histology told a different story so six cycles recommended. Anyway, the Consultation was just like being in the same room & sitting across from him - no feeling of being rushed, plenty of time to ask questions & discuss the pro’s & cons of my treatment. He took time to consider the impact it will have on me as I am 78 years old living in Wales (which has nothing to do with things but no immediate family support as my son lives in America & my daughter lives in Sussex so he wanted to know what my support network would be, especially, because of Covid I can’t leave the house for eighteen weeks !!!!) Anyway , decision made I had my first cycle last week - so far not too bad. All I can add is make a list of every single question that you can think of + I also took a friend with me & a Breast Care/Chemo Nurse was also in the room so we really covered everything between us. Not sure whether your Consultation will be via the Hospital or from home but hope all goes well for you & you get the answers & results that you are hoping for. Stay safe... Helen.

I had a video call from the Brompton a couple of weeks ago. I prepared all my questions beforehand on a large piece of paper, that I was able to keep in front of me and make notes on. The consultant answered all my questions, and following a few scans at the hospital, I’ll have a follow up call in December. So it worked really well for me, and I hope yours will too Woofly.

I was very fortunate. I had a face to face with Dr. Samuel Kemp at the Royal Brompton.Long term brochiectasis.

Apart from a nebuliser and saline, plus Carbocisteine tablets, both of which I am already on he suggested:Stermimar Nasal Sea Spray from the Chemist.

Momatasone Sony T each nostril 2 x 1 a day (Prescription).

But remember, every case is different. Cliff

I wanted to also ask, I imagine they have all my details, x-rays etc, sent by my consultant locally, so do people think I WILL be invited to have the procedure, or not? or will I have to travel down to have them all done again? (long way, I live in Devon! lol) but I would travel to Kathmandu if it would make me feel better 🙂
