Lung pain and inflammation

Hello everyone.This is my first post.I breathed in old dry dust in a chicken shed 5 years ago.Pain for 6 months.Then a crisis of pain and inflammation."A toxic allergic reaction to the proteases".Steroid injection.Better.Then pain for another 18 months.Quite sensitive to dust,fumes,vapours.Clenil 200.Did great for 6 months.Then I foolishly inhaled some cement dust.Lots of pain for 3 weeks.Clenil,prednisone,paracetamol.Then a small inhalation of traffic fumes.Pain for 3 weeks.Prednisolone,clenil,cocodamol. Now any dust,fumes,vapours set off inflammation and pain.I am mainly confined to the house and anxiety over any potential trigger is very high.Is there anyone with advice for me.?I suppose that this condition is rare?I have no trouble breathing and am otherwise fit though anxiety is a growing problem. I also am new to the site but I am impressed with your astuteness in recognising that anxiety is such a big factor for you at the moment.

Are you following any of the online techniques in this field? It can seem that we need it to be specific to illness but that is not so. If you haven’t already you might like to look at Headspace That has lots of straightforward and short introductions to meditation and anxiety alleviation techniques.

Welcome to the forum @alanrob. Your best plan is to scan though past messages on the site looking for something or somebody that you can relate to. Anxiety is something that accompanies all forms of ill-health and can often cause more trouble than the ailment itself. Again there are messages relating to that and how some members manage to overcome it. In the end it is only the medics who are qualified to give practical help.

Welcome to the forum alunrob. Have you thought of acquiring an industrial quality dust mask? In happier days I bought one ( for work-ins on old and filthy buildings- great fun ). I found it steamed my spectacles up, but my daughter loves it. We call it Darth Vader, because that's who you sound like when wearing it. You could whip it on in threatening situations.

Hello Albert attached,I have a good mask (£35) with a carbon filter for fumes.Trouble is you don't know when the carbon filter is exhausted.It it certainly good for any dusts.Thanks for your helpful suggestion.Best wishes.

Hi alunrob: so my suggestion wasn't that helpful. The trouble is you can't always tell when pollution is creeping in until its done its evil work. I don't know if the manufacturer or a some supplier like Screwfix would be able to advise you on filters.

Yes, it's another welcome to the forum but I'm not sure what to advise you, other than perhaps doing what our members have already replied and suggested. All I can add is to ring the BLF freephone number on Monday, tomorrow and speak to a qualified Nurse. They are totally brilliant and have years of experience. They offer their services for free, which in today's climate is rare and any consultation would cost lots of money. BLF give their time and expertise for free😁!! 🐿🌈

Thank you spooks36.I was under a specialist when I had a lavage 2 months ago.No fungi,no virus,no bacteria no cancer.That was that.Now in contact with GP who has today given me prednisolone again for the latest bout of pain and inflammation.I'm hoping that will help.It usually does but even so I always have some pain and a feeling of raw tissues ready to react again to the slightest trigger.I am grateful to you,best wishes.
