Hi,
I had to shield during the last lockdown. The hospital advised me to shield yesterday however I have not received a letter yet. My employer said that some people had already received them.
I think some had letter by post and many here received the letter by email. But here basically is what it says:
gov.uk/government/publicati...
Does that mean I’m not on the list anymore?
I recieved a e-mail from them which they said I could use to show my employer if I had one.
I’d try and get hold of your GP and see what they can do!
Some have had emails and letters already. I’d imagine if you were on it last time and didn’t get removed, you’d be on it again.
I received an email telling me what to do. I havnt really stopoed shielding. I avoid people and go to a nature park for exercise and have no problem staying at home. My wife found it difficult at firstbut having seen the lack of social distancing that seems common she only goes out to shop.
Just seen someone suggest to someone on asthma site that they ask their GP to sign them off until gov letter/email is sorted. Maybe that would help?
I had a email yesterday saying although shielding not law but take care n only go out when only have to, show to employers email if you can’t work from home , yl get forlong pay until 2nd December
Got my shielding email this morning,my friend still waiting for hers think case of waiting Hopefully you will get it soon Take Care.
Hi Crimsoon,
I think we are getting them via email this time round, I had one on Thursday. It's not quite as strict as the first time, I.e we can go out to exercise and we can go to the shops for food if necessary, we can meet with 1 other person and go for a walk etc, but stay home as much as possible. Hope that helps.
The letter says "You are advised not to go to the shops".
Here is a copy of the relevant paragraph. Please be careful.
Shopping
You are advised not to go to the shops. Shop online if you can, or ask others to collect and deliver shopping for you (friends, family, or a volunteer, including NHS Volunteer Responders). If you already have a priority delivery slot with a supermarket, that will continue – you do not need to do anything further.
If you cannot access food, your local council can offer support. This may include helping you to request a priority supermarket delivery slot (if you do not already have one) or help with shopping. See Registering for support.
I only received my letter yesterday,Yours will arrive very soon I would of thought as everyone who was on the original list is definitely on this list so you still have to shield,This was from the lady who sometimes does the press conferences with the government (I think she’s called Jenny Harris)
Hi Crimson
I got mine via email on Wednesday.
They are only really useful if you need to show it to an employer .If you had one last time, presumably you are still on the list.
Best wishes
I got an email last Wednesday. I am more or less carrying on as I have done since March.
Hi Crimsoon. On .Gov.uk the shielding guidelines have been updated on the 05/11/2020 or day early. The day parliament agreed to lock down second time around. It clearly says work from home if you can and if you can't you shou go on ' sick ' pay for a month.
If you have the Covid 19 app go on on you postcode and it will give you the latest information/guidelines .
Work
You are strongly advised to work from home. If you cannot work from home, you should not attend work for this period of restrictions.
If you cannot attend work for this reason, you may be eligible for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Employment Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit. Other eligibility criteria will apply. The formal shielding notification you receive may act as evidence for your employer or the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that you are advised to follow shielding guidance and should not work outside of your home for the period stated in the letter.
Your employer should follow the government's guidelines. Letters can be delayed due to lock down.
Hope this helps. 🙂🧡
Mine arrived yesterday. I’d been given conflicting advice from my GP surgery, but followed the advice of my asthma nurse. Now glad that I did. Luckily my employer was happy for me to work from home.
Mine arrived yesterday too... I am so glad too that I listened and took advice from the Respiratory Nurses. They are super!
