Granddaughter has lurgy

My granddaughter is ill with a sore throat and temperature. My daughter is on her way to collect her from college and she has an appointment at 7 for covid test. This is college policy as Emma is only 16. Bit of a worry as she was home at the weekend and I was at my daughters house last night. So everyone into purdah until she gets results. Not that I've ever been out of it really but got into habit the last few weeks of occasionally spending a couple of hours at my daughters and sharing take away. Hopefully it will just be ordinary cold or flu, but it's a worry.

I do hope for the best for you all, this winter is going to be interesting for all of us. I had a District Nurse in today to play vampire, 3 phials of blood taken, both of us masked, gloved, and my sanitiser at the ready, I am concerned that I could be asymptomatic and pass on to them. Had a giggle together behind our masks, all you can do.

Going to be very trying if every time someone gets a cold we have to go on full covid alert. My daughters boss has already had to self isolate twice.

Oh dear it is a worry for you. I hope she gets the all clear and its as you say just a normal cold or flu.

Should know within 48 hours, my daughter thinks just a bad cold. It's going to be a looooong winter for all of us.

One of my daughters is a teacher and sending children home with coughs and cold is now regular procedure. Both she and my grandson had to be tested last weekend for Covid but thankfully they were negative. Hope yours are too.

Eldest daughters partner is primary school head in Lancashire. It's a very small school, another teaching assistant has just quit and now looks like they are going to have to close for a bit. General madness !

It must be very worrying for you. My daughter too is an ass head yrs 5 and 6 in a primary school in a primary school in a deprived multi generational area.

They have 3 teachers down with covid and one class bubble out. Last week different teachers had tests Tues, Wed and Thurs. 2 are possitive and so have to isolate. There will be no staff left soon.

All schools, no matter how small or large, and my daughter’s school is a 3 year intake and so have over 700 pupils and loads of staff, are supplied with 10 tests, which they are only allowed to use when all other means of obtaining a test have been explored. So the Gov can say they are supplying tests to every school!!!

There was also one guy, wearing a mask, who after being informed he would have to take out is 8 kids said it was the school conspiring with the Gov so his kids didn’t have to stay in school!!!

Another kid who was coughing was sent home with his siblings to be told is brother was sent home yesterday from high school with a cough and another brother had been kept at home with a cough but the parents sent the other kids to school!!!

My daughter is no moaning Minnie and is normally very upbeat but she is coming home with headaches every night. We are only 3 weeks in and I am worried as it’s only a matter of time. PPE is considered not necessary in primary! Canaries in the coal mine!

I wish she would quit but she loves her job, the school and the kids.

I hope your family stay well Angelagone. With the lack of staff, the staff left are having to mix within bubbles.

Ps. She has just sent me a reply to text saying it’s like a soap opera - so much drama.

Love cx

His school has only 30 pupils and he loves it. He is as likely to be unblocking the loos or up on the roof as headmastering. He has worked throughout and has confided he wouldn't be entirely sorry to close ' as people aren't be sensible '. I think he means the parents!

I would think he did mean the parents. When some can’t turn up at a designated gate at a staggered designated time then the bubbles are already skewed🙄

Hope it will just be a case of tonsillitis, and your Granddaughter will soon be well, and the rest of you will be ok too.

Hope she will turn out to be negative.

My Son in law was diagnosed positive yesterday. He's not very ill, just mild cold symptoms, high temp etc. Nevertheless he's in quarantine for 2 weeks, our Daughter who has been working from home anyway will have to isolate and our Grandaughter has been taken out of school for 2 weeks as well. So it could be a case of the Old'uns looking after the Young'uns. That wasn't the plan.😀.

Hope all is well, take care.

Probably inevitable she will get it at some point. I can see she going to be to and thro from college like a yo yo !

More than likely it's just a heavy cold.

Hoping the tests are negative. There are a lot of cold and sore throat infections going about at the moment after everyone has gone out and about more.

I hope that your granddaughter is ok it could just be the flu hopefully. We had the same with our grandson but his was the flu. He still had a covid test which was negative. Still a worry until you know the results. x

Yes, I'm sure you are right. I cant help feeling that the country will rapidly descend into chaos though with people isolating, businesses opening and closing , rules no one understands ( including our prime minister ).....
