azathioprine
Like most medications there can be side effects. I know someone who is on this medication and apart from some nausea as had few problems. Most immunosuppressive medications have reported side effects and these vary from person to person. Personally I would have a chat with your GP or pharmacist to get a true picture of possible problems.
There will be side effects..it’s a strong drug. My hair definitely fell out more easily whilst taking aza, but your doctor would have prescribed it because he thinks the risk of side effects is less than the risk of what it’s treating.
I have been on Azathioprine for 9 years now, (have Crohn's Disease). I think I have less problems than when on high doses of Steroids. As with all strong meds, a balance of risk/benefit.
I also have Crohns disease and have been on azathioprine for 28 years. This improved my life dramatically and meant I could come off huge doses of steroids. I have to have regular 3 monthly blood test but throughout the years I have been fine. I have suffered no side effects of any description (perhaps I'm just lucky) but the benefits I have gained are immeasurable. Good luck and I hope it suits you.
