Can lung cancer treatment lead to heart problems?

I had two adana carcinoma lessions removed from my right lung and had radiotherapy on my left one, last September and November respectively. I have recently been told I now have heart failure due to these procedures which has caused the enormous amount of water retention I have experienced. Has anyone else had the same?

There can be multiple reasons for this. From the general anesthetic or even the radiotherapy depending on the type of radiotherapy and/or proximity of the treated area. Having heart failure doesn't mean that your heart has stopped working, but that your heart needs some support to help it work better. What you need to keep sight of is, what would have happened if you had not received the treatment.

Radiotherapy does cause damage to the body, the heart is centre left side of the body.

The therapy is used to destroy cancer cells to help preserve life.
