Other than for two hospital visits, I went out yesterday evening for the first time since mid March 10th, 184 days spent indoors. Our son came over to see us and a snap decision was made to go out for fish and chips, in his car and we went the other side of Southampton Water, to Hythe. Unfortunately did not see friends as they were out themselves.
It was a nice warm evening to sit outside on the benches in the village green to eat. The peace and quiet was soon disturbed with a hundred gulls all begging. Who would have thought that getting fish and chips would feel like such a big adventure.

That sounds like a great trip out, other than not getting to see your Friends. It's almost unbelievable how much things have changed in such a short time. Im glad you had a good time 🍟
Well done 2 greys, my first trip out was to meet up with my friend who'd also been shielding to go for fish and chips .....unfortunately we didn't get any, apparently the norm is you have to phone your order in advance and arrange a time for it to be collected, we were informed there was hour and

I think fish and chips is a wonderful way to have an evening out and gulls as eating partners, not the best😁I can concur, only hospital appointments in almost 8 months.
Personally i have only ventured out into our communal driveway areas all around house , this shared with 11 houses . Must get bra ver? How did you feel in the shop for instance? What about flu jab . Have to go and join queue then ?
I actually found M&S do a delivery then found problems with returning the unwanted part of the order Trying to sort that now. !
No real queue just a couple of people, only 2 customers allowed in at a time. I did not actually go in the shop, Sharon did.
My flu jab is next Sat, but 2.5 miles away at the parent practice surgery, a mass vaccination outdoors in the car park at 9 am, I hope it is not raining. The under 65s turn is later in the month.
Not really a case of getting braver with going out. I have full confidence with both of us being immune. For me, more a case of me picking up contamination, taking it back home, then Sharon picking it up and taking it on into the nursing home. I go the whole ten yards with taking precautions. Inside an isolated nursing home the virus has to be taken in from outside source, I know that Sharon get contaminated outside on her own but I am at least reducing the chances, it must all help.
There will be many of us who will appreciate and understand the enormity of your day out two greys. Such a simple pleasure of a little trip, eating outdoors with your family, in the fresh air not to mention a change of scenery will have done wonders for your wellbeing. I'm so glad you felt able and well enough to enjoy these simple pleasures.
Sometimes it takes something like the pandemic and lockdown to remind us of these simple pleasures which, at one time we took for granted.
Congratulations 2greys. Fish n chips near gulls sort of makes for a not so relaxing time - they have been known to dive bomb one after the other to steal your supper.
Enjoy some more outings before the winter sets in.
Afterall the stress and strain you've been through, its fabulous to know you're still putting your face out there with your fan club of feathered friends by the sea having fish 'n chips!! It certainly seemed to lift your spirits so maybe not a bad idea to make it a regular outing?
Simply wonderful to hear that! Fish and Chips seems to be the breaking lockdown fast (first food out) for many. It was for me too ... and my sister in Ireland.
Fish and chips, my idea of heaven. Good on you for venturing out 2 greys, you have had it rough so need a treat. We all need to go out but just remember the rules, safe distance, wear a mask and wash or sanitise your hands. I went out with a friend yesterday to Glossop which I really enjoyed and there weren't too many people around. It did me the world of good, as Im sure it did you x
