Pete, myself and all our family will be having the flu jab this year as we always do. We all want to be protected. The covid vaccination won’t be available yet so we need to protect ourselves against the flu.

Some don’t have the jab for whatever reason but many will. I’m not sure what your concerns are with regards what goes into the flu jab but I’m certainly having mine.

Stay safe and well. Xxxx

There are a number of conspiracy stories going round. Then there are the established anti vaccine groups. YouTube and Facebook are full of various beliefs concerning vaccines. Not one as any scientific base that I can find. I personally will have the flu jab without any worries. Obviously the Covid vaccine is not yet approved and I will make a decision when details are available.

My mum heard the Oxford coronavirus vaccine is ready and will be available in a few weeks. Is this true?

My flu jab is booked for sept 16. For over 65s this year's vaccine contains four strains which is one more than last year. They are adjuvented as were last years's. This means that they have been formulated to better stimulate the immune system and hopefully make it more effective in older people.

The covid vaccine is still in development. This is done under very strict conditions and its use will be legally controlled. Conspiracy theories about governments attempting to inflict harm on their populations by vaccination have been around since protests against the smallpox vacc in the nineteenth century.

Flu is a killer for us so for me having my vacc since 1979 is a no brainer.

We are having our Flu Jabs at the end of this Month. We received a letter from our Surgery to say as Such. Mine will be the One for over 65's and Hubby has one for being my carer for my protection. Always had one and I trust them. Best to be safe against Flu. Covid Vaccination's will happen when it is the right time. Have a lovely Monday. XXX C.

I will be having my jab for the 12th year running, as will my 12 year old who until this year was the primary reason I got vaccinated. Now I’m high risk in my own right, so I’m also getting the pneumonia jab. Child caught the flu whilst an inpatient last spring, but because she was vaccinated and the strain was included in the vaccine, her illness was quite mild (still felt pretty pants, though!) and only lasted 5 days. Same for her consultant that she passed it to, but his unvaccinated teenage daughter was quite unwell for about 2 weeks. It’s a no brainier for me, and I’ll also be encouraging some denial prone family members to get appropriately vaccinated.

I know you are going ahead now with flu jab...but just wanted to say, I think as many people as possible should have the vaccine. My children in their 40's will be going to Boots for theirs. I've been having it for 20 years now and ofcourse, Grand children have it. With Covid around you dont want to be getting flu!!

Hi Daniel, I will definitely get my flu jab. I have been having the flu jab since I was 21 some 50 years ago and I have never been sorry, it has kept me was well as I could be. Please do not listen to any of these scare stories, because that is what they are. You must protect yourself from influenza just as you would any other year. Take care, Maximonkey
