I have end stage copd and have been suffering severe anxiety. Have tried a couple of antidepressants which lowered my heart rate and am now on pregablin which has relieved the anxiety but seems to be making my breathing worse. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds really difficult. Just want you to know I feel for your situation. I guess most of us here will be in your shoes one day. Sorry I cant help with your question but I know there are many different drugs out there for depression and anxiety, hope you find something that takes the edge off . X

I have had the related drug, gabapentin, for severe sciatica and did not experience any breathing problems. But different people react differently and I think breathing problems are listed as one of the more unusual side effects. the big problem i had with gabapentin was coming off it. I had to very slowly reduce my dosage over several weeks and it still caused insomnia and anxiety until I was well and truly off it. For this reason I don't think I would take it again.

So sorry to hear you are suffering unified I cant advise you but perhaps the blf team can help, give them a ring and see what they advise. Its a shame if these tablets are working and helping with the anxiety though. I wish you all the best, it cant be easy for you x
