I'm new here, Oxygen when going out and about

I have just been discharged from hospital and my long term oxygen has been increased to 8 LPM when resting and as needed from 10 to 15 LPM when doing any movement.

I can no longer have a conserver on my oxygen when moving with my ambulatory cylinder in a carry bag, so oxygen only lasts 45 mins.

Is anyone else on this high flow oxygen amount, if so how do you manage to go to appointments or get out.

I have Emphysema, pulmonary hypertension/fibrosis and right sided heart failure due to the pulmonary hypertension.

Can anyone help so that I can get about more freely without having to take so many oxygen cannisters.

Thank you

Morning Hun, Welcome to The forum. You are on high Litres. Do you have an Respiratory/ Oxygen Nurse? She would be able to arrange for you to have Ambulatory via a Compact Conserver, I have a shoulder bag size Inogen One G3, mine is a small one that allows me to reach my 3/4 litres on Moving. This last about 3 hours , can be charged up in the car, I have not had "Cylinders" for many Years. My Home Concentrator is Continuous can go up to 15+ lts, which I don't need it that high. I am sure Someone will come along with updates on a Higher Ltr intake than me. I wish you Luck, It was my Resp., Nurse at Rehab who initially organised my " Shoulder Bag/Pulse Flow" Go Direct to them. Best Wishes. xxx C.

Hi Hacienda

Thank you for your reply.

My high flow oxygen means that I cannot have the Inogen one as they do not go that high. I did have one when I first started to use oxygen, but now they do not make them to do high flow.

I also cannot have a conserver as the oxygen flow is to high.

Just thougt someone out there may have high flow and have a solution I have not thought of.

My sons wedding is coming up and I would like to attend but not sure how I can achieve that goal at present.

Thanks again for your reply.

I recently went up to 6 on my inogen so that is. The top figure. I asked the nurse what next and he said liquid oxygen. You have a tank at home and fill bottles up which I think he said would last 45 mins. He said most people fill a lot up and put them in the car for a day out. It might be worth looking liquid oxygen up as I can’t remember the details, but he seemed to think I could manage a weekend away with a conserves at the hotel and these liquid oxygen bottles

Thank you for taking the time to post a reply.

I have not been offered liquid oxygen but I am going to check with my respiratory nurse to see my options going forward.
