Face masks

Hi everyone I'm new to this and I have 1 question. Do we have to wear face masks even if you have moderate Copd? Any help would be great. I find it very uncomfortable when trying to breath through a mask

No. It doesn't matter the severity of your respiratory condition as we are all officially exempt according to the law.

click on the link and search masks - or you could use search box top right on this page too. It has been posted, mentioned many time before - the information is also available from uk.gov site. But of course if you are not residing in the UK go to the information available in the country you reside.

Hi covo49. Officially we are exempt if breathing problems. You could download from British lung foundation an exempt card to keep on your phone . Go on to blf website and type in exemption. Good luck.

Apparently, you do not have to wear facemasks if you have lung problems and need an inhaler.

I cant wear a facemask for more than a minute, I find it really hard to breathe especially while walking. X

Looking at the Scottish government website, it says that face visors / shields are acceptable. This would explain why I've seen staff wearing these. I don't know where you live. Also someone pointed out the hidden disabilities website that sells an exemption card (for 55p I think) that you can carry. 🌻

If I couldn't wear a face mask I'd at least wear a visor. Luckily the council where I live have extended the pavements for safe distance walking. If my conditions were severe I don't think I'd be mixing publicly at all. My local chemist have N95 masks , 10 for £25 which I'm budgeting for.

It might be worth trying a few different types. The disposable ones I found not too bad. I wore one in hospital when I was wheezing like a steam train

Even if you only wear one for a couple of mins during a shop it all helps, combine with a visor. Anything you can do to prevent yourself from getting covid is a good thing. I find if I just take it a bit easier and walk a bit slower that helps as well.

Also a lot more delivery slots are popping up from some of the supermarkets for the bigger shops which I have started using and I am just shopping for the fresh goods and small shops so I can go in and out quickly as I cant do too long in the mask I have.
